Project PS3P Announced, PSP Emulation on PS3 in Development

Sponsored Links
233w ago - Today dimmudroid has announced news of what is currently being developed as Project PS3P on PSX-Scene, which aims to offer PSP game emulation on Sony's PS3 entertainment system!

To quote: "I'd like to announce a project i've been working on, PS3P. Basically it's the ability to load PSP games on PS3.

As you may know, the PS3 can play PSP Minis, which are installed just like any other package. And most PSP games have nearly identical structures and files as PS3 games.

Thus far I've been able to achieve a few steps in the right direction, but I'm not ready to share my work just yet. I've been working on this in my free time (aka outside of work and family) and it will be done when it's done.

If you'd like to know more, or keep on the up and up, feel free to find me on http://twitter.com/dimmudroid

I may need a few alpha testers soon, I'll post requirements and such later today."

Oh man I almost crapped myself when I read this, even though I have BC unit that is awesome. I will be installing this just for save state support if included.

this is going to be a cool achivement for the ps3 scene.... i cant wait for the rain of giant pixles... games will probably end up looking like the ps2 port of GTA:Liberty City Stories, large and pixilated thats the way we play psp on the ps3.

Well the original PS1 emulator that works on all retail PS3's just sux, so hoping for us is the current best PC PS1 emulator will be ported to the PS3 so we can actually play good upscaled antialiased PS1 games (and I can finally play X-files which is garbled in the original PS1 emulator on the PS3).

Also the advantage ofcourse of using an 'opensource' emulator is the fact support is better, so if a game doesn't run correctly you can easily ask for better support (whereas with Sony you just run into a brick wall as they won't enhance their emulators).

When coding the emulator, one could just map the buttons to also work on the analog stick

This is quite cool would like to play some PSP games on my big screen, homebrew scene is developing quite well now.

Dont think it will be streched as it'll auto configure it to the best your tv can view.

well, that's what the project is I'm already guessing.

the psp emulation is built in, but not documented. I'm sure the creator is taking time to explore as they go. ;]
