232w ago - Update: Today the latest PL3 Payload Update is available, which now supports PS3 2.76, 3.21 and 3.40 Retail Firmware versions and evilsperm has shared some Updated PL3 Hex Codes for those seeking them!

Just under a week ago we reported that Medal of Honor was working with Open Manager for PS3 JailBreak users, and today datalogger (JasonMcKey on Twitter) has updated the PL3 Payload which fixes the 80010019 error that Medal of Honor and other new PS3 titles gave users prior to updating them to run.

To quote: "OK, I gave the info to KaKaRoToKs and he added it to the 3.15 and 3.41 versions of PL3.

If you go ahead and get PL3, this should be fixed (along with MOH and others).

This only needs the param.sfo file to be edited... no changing the eboot.bin"

In related news, PSGroove reports that PlayStation 3 Kiosk support was also recently added to PL3, to quote:

"On another note, support for 3.41 Kiosk consoles was also recently added to PL3 by Mark Webber. Those of you with store/kiosk demo PS3 units can now join the jailbreaking party!"

It was not the answer to your question, but i assume that you have completely messed up with file permissions.

I am not familiar with Hermes' Payload and I am just starting to understand what PL3 does. From my knowing Hermes 4b together with some Backup Managers can switch root access on and off. I think this can't work proper and gives you even a bigger mess with permissions. If a file has permissions set to 600 you cant access it with root patch disabled if you installed it with patch enabled. I don't know exactly how the Hermes patch mode works, but if you can't start XMB Apps with root access you will need another payload to fix things.

But that is just a guess based on some testing with PL3 payloads.

BM 2.1 H?? You mean Open Manager 2.1H?? I tried with OM 2.1H installs fine, when installing game data just stalls at 0%

Maybe this could help to fix things.

Remember, many of the files you create as root will be locked for userlevel.

guys, mI'm using the X3max dongle. As they say you can use anny .hex file with the payload on to jailbreak your system. So i downloaded the Hermes V4B files on the download page of this forum.

to flash my dongle i'm using the hermesv4b_teensy_v2.0++_at90usb1286_16Mhz.hex using the X3-tool from the X3max team.

Afterwards i jailbreak my ps3 with the X3max dongle by doing the usual thing (power and then eject). So then my ps3 is jailbreaked and i instal Open manager 2.1G. I open the openmanager and their i see my games (who are all on a 500gig external HDD.) I browse to a game that requires 3.42 such as MOH or Ea sports MMA. I push L2 to use the function for games that requires 3.42 and afterwards i launch the game.

So i fall back to XMB where i can see the disc in the game XMB. I launch it and i still get the 80010019 error. I tried to launch it with open manager 2.1H, with Gaia manager 1.02 and 1.03. I even tried it with the PL3 payload but it still won't work.

Now i'm getting desperated because i don't know what i'm doing wrong... Do i still need to edit the param.sfo from the game? And do something with the eboot.bin of the game?

This is true. Think about the background of the different userlevels. Userlevel on a debug console is less restricted than on a retail console, because you can run unsigned code. But for obvious reason, every game needs to be designed for running on the most restricted userlevel of retail consoles.

So if you want to boot a backup, which is a perfect copy, with only difference that the code is unsigned, you will need to elevate your userlevel from 'retail user' to 'debug user'. Root access is never needed for the usual stuff. If you are on root account and move files to the system, ownership to files is assigned to root. This even could be some security feature.

One problem is, that once you have assigned ownership to root you cant get rid of it anymore. Even on developer systems we are not expected to become root and therefore do not have documented tools to set ownership of files. So the only way to act most compatible atm is to install stuff on the appropriate user level. This way, everything will install with the settings to run on retail and therefore gives the best compatibility.

Sorry if this is the wrong topic... I've ripped moh using hermes vb to external edited to 3.41 and loaded to internal hdd. updated and installed and plays just fine. My question is how do I play Frontline? Edited to 3.41 external to internal. but everytime I try to load frontline it asks for 3.42 update. Is frontline a playable? hermes vb on teensyboard using om 1.71 and gaiamanager. Thanks
