To quote from deank: Here is a quick update to multiMAN: Since my old server has no chance of going up again I decided to use my home "server" to restore the covers / themes / webcolumn / game-updates functionalities.

Please do not abuse it - it may get slower from time to time, but this is all I can do at the moment. This is the only change in this version (new update / online server) along with SHOWTIME.SELF 04.03.240 for mM and as standalone.

multiMAN ver 04.40.00 BASE (20130602).zip Includes:

  • multiMAN ver 04.40.00 BASE CEX (20130602).pkg
  • multiMAN ver 04.40.00 BASE DEX (20130602).pkg
  • Showtime 04.03.240 [CEX].pkg
  • Showtime 04.03.240 [DEX].pkg
  • lastGAME6.pkg
  • gameDATA6.pkg
  • bdRESET6.pkg
  • stDISC4.pkg
  • ps3netsrv_mmDM_mmRAS.zip

multiMAN ver 04.40.00 STEALTH (20130604).zip

This is the BASE STEALTH version.

You need to extract the .ISO file in the .RAR download and then move it to your internal HDD (/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO) using a file manager or FTP program. Then it should show up in the "Retro" column on multiMAN and you can play it. (You need the Cobra USB to use it on your PS3).

This is great from Slim PS3 and Cobra USB owners since most PS2 games will now work flawlessly on it.

For those with the Cobra USB dongle, coveman has made available an Open PS2 Loader ISO File via tortuga-cove.com/hacking/31-ps3/2611-open-ps2-loader-iso-file.

Download: Open PS2 Loader (ISO) (1.27 MB)

To quote: I created an "Open PS2 Loader" ISO file, so you can just load it from Cobra Manager or multiMAN.

Just extract the .rar and transfer it to your internal HDD to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO

  • You don't need SWAP MAGIC
  • You don't need any optical disc at all in your PS3
  • Works on PS3 non-BC (tested on my SLIM) (CobraUSB required)

I included the cover so you can either put it in /covers_retro/psx/SLES_806.08_COV.JPG or rename it to "Open PS2 Loader.jpg" and put it along side the ISO in PS2ISO folder.

This is just the way multiman reads its music for the theme. I was trying to answer the question above my post. multiman looks for a sound.bin file. it must be a .mp3 file renamed to .bin.

You are right , under normal circumstances it would make the file unreadable but not in this case. .bin is used for lots of things like firmware updates for dvd drives etc, its basically just raw sequential data in a .bin file.

Q: How to change multiMAN's background music?
A: Pick a MP3 file of your choice. Rename it to SOUND.BIN. Copy it to /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/ on your PS3.

What the names of the actual songs are depends on the theme, google is your friend.

As far as I know, CobraUSB will still be required if you have an old FAT and want to play PS2 imports, right?

any differences ? new stuff? best option (your opinion on which version is best)??

No, it was a internal update for the media player showtime that is built into multiman. deans multiman hasn't been updated.

Not 100& sure of exact differences, read changelogs. Cobra multiman has extra options compared to deans multiman but its only better in reality if you have a use for them of course.
