September 12, 2011 // 3:38 pm - Today PlayStation 3 developer deank has updated the PS3 Game Backup Manager to multiMAN version 02.06.02, which incorporates a refresh speed modification that still maintains the homebrew application's overall performance.

Download: multiMAN v02.06.02 PS3 Update (20110912-212500) (1.3 MB) / Showtime SELF Version 3.1.265.g6e201.dirty (3.95 MB) / multiMAN v02.06.02 Update OpenFTP (20110914-165700) (1.29 MB) / multiMAN v02.06.03 Update OpenPS3FTP (20110914-180000) (1.29 MB) / multiMAN v02.06.03 Update (20110915-150000) (1.29 MB)

multiMAN v02.06.02 PS3 Update (20110912-212500) Changes:

  • multiMAN versions 01.10.00-02.06.00 ran in VSYNC mode (it caused barely-noticed tearing because of the double refresh rate). Latest update compensates the speed by lowering the refresh speed, while keeping the performance. It means no tearing (unless you really want it - switch with SELECT+SQUARE)..
  • Opening a SIDE menu will make current entry icon zoom 8x and visible enough in 480p/576p modes. Looks pretty in photo, music, game/fave/retro columns.
  • "Key Repeat Delay" for some reason was ignored when changing it... Now fixed.

Update is available online, too.

Showtime SELF Version 3.1.265.g6e201.dirty Changelog:

  • Added: XMB videos and last folder visible in Showtime
  • Added: Return to multiMAN when using the EXIT icon in to top right corner of main Showtime Interface
  • Since version 3.1.231 Showtime can play multi-channel audio on the PS3
  • In 3.1.239 there are fixes for 5.1/7.1 audio processing

Save the downloaded file as: /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/SHOWTIME.SELF

multiMAN v02.06.02 Update OpenFTP (20110914-165700) Changes:

  • Changed: Implemented OpenPS3FTP by jjolano and removed the old buggy FTP server (faster transfer speeds and no path/file length limitations)

This should clear most of the FTP problems multiMAN had. Transfer speed is now faster, you can use 8-16 simultaneous file transfers, and the problem with long path and file names is gone now. The implementation of openps3ftp is based on older version from jjolano, but still is much much better than what multiMAN had until now, so big thanks to him!

multiMAN ver 02.06.03 Update OpenPS3FTP (20110914-180000) Changes:

If anyone had issues with "Coverflow" mode (locks, motion background video stop/break), use the update from the first post or update your multiMAN online via debug mode.

Also added new option in the XMMB Settings column:

4 new labels in the language files:

  • Background Appearance
  • Changes background type for XMMB and Coverflow modes.
  • Image
  • Video

To run a game without exiting to the XMB go to "game settings" on the game you're on and select "Direct boot".

I upgraded from multi man 1.16 to 2.09.

I used to be able to choose to run games directly from multi man, or be brought back to the xmb to run it there. some games only worked this way. now that i updated to 2.09, those games aren't working.. is there a setting I'm missing? can i direct boot from multi man to run these games? an example of one was GTA 4 would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, regarding version 2.09.00 I have question about "Direct Disc Access" mode. I am confused. It seems to me that the bulletin have conflicting items... from my understanding, when DDA is turn on, you can rip BD movie, launch ISO PS3 backup (*3). But you cannot backup PS3 Game Disc even with it turn on (*3). But (*1) says you cannot create ISO backup ... UNLESS DDA is turn on. That means that when it is turn on, you should be able to backup? Then again, (*0) says that you can back up PS3 game.

So can you create PS3 ISO in any case? Can someone clarify for me?

Also in (*2) what does it mean by "same functionality"? Is it referring to (*3) (rip BD movie discs, launch games,...) or there are any extra functionality that I missed out?

Thanks in advance.

Well I put some iso backup files in the game folder on my external hdd and thought I'd see what happens when launching from file manager but it just won't work (yet).

Think we have to be a little more patient as I read something about Dean working on a new kind of eboot fix which will create a PKG that will run straight from XMB without need of MM.

Or perhaps I totally misunderstand what he is saying. Lets just see what the future brings.

Ain't got a clue what "paxil" format is but FF9 is one of the protected ps1 game so if you make a dump (one way or the other) of that it will most likely need a patch.

Dvd movies is usually encrypted (and region locked) and you need something like Dvdfab to decrypt it. Dvdfab can probably do all you need but personally i like to mess around with Dvdshrink and use ImgBurn to burn.

I did notice that too but I assumed it meant you can start the game from XMMB but it will run the game from disc. Anyone else tried this already without disc? Otherwise I'll just give it a try when I have some time. Kid's playing Toy Story now so it will take a while
