March 30, 2011 // 1:38 pm - Today D_Skywalk has ported Hermes Manager for PlayStation 3 backups to what he calls IrisManager v1.0, which is compatible with PS3 CFW 3.55 for Custom Firmware users.

Download: IrisManager v1.0 / Homepage / GIT

To quote: Well, after much playing with the PS3 and "accompany" Hermes Manager support in 3.55 I have finally decided to do my own project which will gradually diverged from the original.

It has taken many months to reach this release with syscall8 of hermes and the new hook so I hope everyone enjoyed it and the manager to behave as stable as in our tests.

Note to some developers with close source projects that does not respect the GPL:

If you benefit from this code, then you SHOULD contribute back. And it is very clear how I expect you to contribute back - by providing full access to the COMPLETE system which is using my code.

At the core of GPL, the intention is that someone else should be able to make modifications to such a system and build other things from it.

No source? Syscall8 and new hook is not welcomed in your disturbing projects. I am not interested in any line from your source, but scene play together...

IrisManager is a port of HermesManager based on PSLIGHT, Tiny3D, PS3Soundlib and OpenPS3FTP, is a completly legal and open code manager made with Homebrew tools.

Well, after much playing with the PS3 and "accompany" Hermes Manager support in 3.55 I have finally decided to do my own project which will gradually diverged from the original.

It has taken many months to reach this release with syscall8 of hermes and the new hook so I hope everyone enjoyed it and the manager to behave as stable as in our tests.

List of some features:

• Support to run games with bigfiles from external USB devices (caching the big file from the internal HDD) - Icon Red.
• New syscall8 and new developed hook with an open_table algorithm on 3.55
• Support for Black Screen games (BDEmu).

Note: WaninV2 CFW do not support bigfiles feature, more info:

Wanin don't give more support of his CFW and he do too much changes to run the new payload, sorry. If the manager detects WaninV2 CFW installs the basic sys36+hook.

qucik question about Iris manager and the hdd cache function for big file games. when i press play it states , game marked as unplayable, going too cache to hdd cache. then press ok and it says it will saves 2.49 gigs, and then starts copying to hdd cach.

does it copy the whole 18 gigs to hdd cache en when game finishes it will be deleted? and if you have little room on hdd for example 5 gigs , does it alllow chaching large files then the 5 gigs?

and it takes around 30 mins to do that, do i have to do that everytime before playing the game let it copy for 30 mins?

You have to go into whatever backup manager you use and pick the game from there. Some games will let you launch them from the backup manager and/or without a game disc in the system (it doesn't matter what game disc you use). But in a lot of cases (at least in my experience) this does not work.

So you may have to choose not to "direct boot" which will take you back to the XMB. If done correctly, the game you chose in the manager will now show up instead of the game that is actually in the system. I use Multiman as my backup manager, so there may be some slight differences to what I say, and what you must do. But for them most part I believe that is how a lot of the managers work.

It is also worth stating that some games will not work depending on if you are trying to run them from the PS3's HDD or an external. It all may not make sense at first, but just make sure you take time and read the instructions for whatever manager(s) you use.

Thanks for replying, that is actually one thing I was wondering about, if files split with the existing pc utilities are compatible with Iris, or if we need Iris to split them.

I guess I'll have to try it over the weekend and see!

I've no idea if that assumption is correct mouseclicker it was just a guess on how it works.

But first of all you can't play any games from an NTFS drive so they're going to need to be moved for a start, opensplit (pretty sure that's what it is called) can split large files for you so they can be stored on fat32 drives. After you have the split files on a fat32 hdd iris manager will do its thing from there, but I haven't looked at the source as to how it exactly does that.

If I already have a backup with a big file on an ntfs hdd, is there a pc utility which can produce split files that Iris recognizes or do I have to transfer it back to the internal hdd and let Iris do the copying and splitting to the external FAT32 hdd?
