November 22, 2010 // 3:06 am - Today NZHawk has shared on his blog (linked above) what he calls a little find, specifically how to place PS3 apps into different PlayStation 3 XMB categories.

To quote: "Well I was talking to DarkHacker about param.sfo files and that. He asked me to try changing the CATAGORY string to 'HM' and see what it did.

It made the package install under the PlayStation Network catagory on the XMB. DarkHacker and I then worked out the rest of the catagories that its possible to install and run hombrew applications to the XMB, and found them all except Users, Settings and Friends (which all seem to be filled with the XML files in the VSH flash folder).

String / Category
HM / Playstation Network
CB / Network
HG / Game
AV / Video
AM / Music
AP / Photo
AT / TV

I thought this was quite interesting, and would be great if we could add a Hombrew catagory to the xmb and make all hombrew apps install under it to make some hombrew standard, much like the wii has. (Also has anyone though about making a database of hombrew Title IDs to keep track?)

Oh, and its possible to change this location after install via application settings."

Thanks to PSGroove for the news tip and to Jes03 for posting this a few days ago HERE!

As its the same I guess he read what I said and wanted to steal the idea for himself and get all the credit.

This has happened to me a few times now. Either I will stop suggesting things or I will post about it everywhere so I get the credit I deserve.

Hey mate!

If I saw that comment I wouldn't have even posted it on my blog, like I said me and DarkHacker were messing around and found it out too. Looks like you beat us to it. Just an unlucky coincidence with the way it looks! I hate drama in the scene as much as most, and don't want to make a big deal about this! I have added you to my original blog post explaining what happened. Hope this clears things up, and you keep posting your suggestions!

here is a guide from the modFW maker Dark_monkey how to mod the xmls: http://www.pspking.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=27153

What is the MFW

The MFW is only from the commanding XMB point-TV, has been modded and can genutzwerden as Homebrewchannle replace the icon for "GAME DEBUG" by the chic icon of the black Ps1 disc and direct download of MultiMan the XMB (many people whom requested backup manager I use - "MultiMan"). Eg. thought appropriate, have a proper CFW comes out to just modding.

For normal users, this can be changed only by load modules eien USBLoader. I was watching it all looked very smart and put it here vergagngenheit from before I knew it I use the abbreviation "CFW" had, so I called her quite simply MFW - a modded FW. The really not even in the sense entferntestetn met a CFW.

How do I create my own MFW

The first thing you have to write one's own category_tv.xml of the file for the TV spot in the XMB responsible.

The best first build the basic structure:

[Register or Login to view code]

Now we add the modded Subtopics - "* Install Package Files" added.

[Register or Login to view code]

our right as we initialize all sub-points in "root_dex and root_arcade"

[Register or Login to view code]

next to the two remaining tables

[Register or Login to view code]

Finally, the now indicating the sub-items with Tables

[Register or Login to view code]

If I type in the above by an error code, here again the guestimate.

That's the first part.

As always, the license of spelling errors lay with you.
