December 9, 2011 // 3:44 pm - Following up on the initial release, today andbey0nd has made available version 2 of his GameData Tool PS3 homebrew application followed by some revisions below.

Download: GameData Tool v2 PS3 Homebrew Application / gameDATA9.pkg.155.v9.00.pkg

To quote: With this new version this time round andbey0nd tells us that his tool now has the ability to be used with ANY CFW (Cobra/TB/Kmeaw/Rebug/MFW 3.41 and 3.55) utilizing syscall35 , fixed a bug that was present in Rev1 and made the package smaller. So with that said we present you with gameDATA Tool (Rev2) and changelog below:

What does it do?

  • Allows the user to switch location of [game data] between internal HDD and first external USB HDD
  • Allows to install PSN games (or any application/pkg) to external USB HDD
  • Allows to get back to normal mode when you use "Ext. Game Data" option in multiMAN
  • Allows saving space on internal HDD

Changelog:
9.00 (multiMAN 04.55.00+)

  • Added support for 4.50DEX, 4.53CEX, 4.55CEX

  • Works properly after a clean PS3 start (when no payloads are preloaded by other tools/managers) (bugfix from rev 1)
  • Added "(utilizing syscall35)"
  • Supports all firmwares: MFW/CFW 3.41, 3.55, including Cobra 3.55 and TrueBlue 3.55 (utilizing syscall35)

yes, I have an 80GB ps3 and I don't have internal space to spare, installing the new god of war games and beyond good and evil on external will be a dream come true for me. I have a 2TB external drive

This homebrew is really useful, especially for me that i have an old 40 GB PS3

If I understand correctly this should also resolve the compatibility with some games that it was not possible to boot from external HD, simply awesome

Well for someone like me it's very useful since I can save some room on my Internal HDD by intsalling PKG files on the External HDD.

Asides from giving faster access to your data (PSN install) I really don't see the use for this tool ? I mean whats the point of it. Or am i missing something. Great job on the tool though. It does work neat and clean.
