September 20, 2010 // 4:28 pm - According to PSGroove (linked above) and DJLO at PSX-Scene, F1 2010 is the first PS3 Game to require updating to PlayStation 3 Firmware version 3.42 which blocks both PSJailBreak and the PS3 Proxy Methods.

I was on IRC and the news broke, apparently it requires you to update and if you cancel, it takes you back to the PS3 XMB. The war has just began and Sony made the first move: User 0 vs Sony 1.

For those curious about other PS3 game compatibility with PSJailBreak, PSGroove and PSFreedom be sure to check out the PS3 JailBreak Game Compatibility List and add to it if possible.

To quote: "If you ignore the game's warnings, it throws you back to the XMB. Technically this should just require some editing to the PARAM.SFO's version, in order to get the game to boot on 3.41. However, time will tell."

F1 2010 is the First PS3 Game to Require 3.42 Firmware?

My guess: The jailbreak exploit breaks some minor USB functionality those few non-working games use.

Yep, i tried:

Every controller number(pressed PS button on connect controller screen, and changed assignment to each number)
Turned vibrate on and off
Tried with PSGroove board plugged in
Tried with PSGroove board unplugged
Tried controller wireless
Tried controller wired
Tried with nothing at all plugged in via USB
Tried with charge cable plugged in via USB (connected to my headset)

And various combinations of the above. None seem to work.

I wasn't sure whether i could post the release i had downloaded, but now a moderator has said that's fine, i downloaded "Formula.1.2010.PS3.JB-RiSq [PAL/Racing/2010]".

On the site that i downloaded it from someone else had commented they had the same problem.

Gonna have a look round to see if this is the only release available atm, or if there's another one, if there is I'll try the other one to see whether this is just a bad rip, or whether it's another problem.

I've tried, didn't make a difference. I've also tried plugging in the controller through USB, which, naturally, didn't change anything.

It will probably do nothing. However IMHO bluetooth is connected through the USB bus and I thought it was something easy to attempt just in case the devices psgroove pretends to be is breaking something in the game code.

what difference would that make? PS3 controllers are connected to the console through bluetooth, not USB. Besides PSGroove/PSJailbreak doesn't even do anything after console is in devmode (or whatever it's called).

That has already been done on the PSP. I think it was one of the korean releases of the DJ MAX games that deleted the content of the ISO-folder on the memory stick.

Tried the game on internal HD and it installs fine. Then I get the same controller issue as mentioned before. Skipping through the intro videos works fine, but then the 'connect controller' message pops up.
