How to install PS3 Backup Manager with Waninkoko CFW:

Below are some recent Tweets from Waninkoko: Custom Firmware v3.55 for PS3 released! Tools will be pushed in github soon.

Do NOT install in Slim consoles! Looks like users are reporting bricking issues. That's weird as the CFW was tested on both models.

Well... I don't know if those problems are real or just jokes. As I said, some testers tried this and worked in both models.

PUP MD5: 6eab7f1deea1ed46a1dc9924fd7080b3
PUP SHA1: 771e0f2431f15c7edd323899fbab810f32e35aba

IMPORTANT: Check the hash of the created PUP file before flashing.

I recommend updating first to OFW 3.55, then to CFW 3.55. I'm sorry for all the consoles that have dies, this was unexpected

At least some people report that it works! That's good news.

Working in an alternative way, with no brick risk... No ETA.

From festizio on FIX PERMISSIONS: It seems that a lot of folks are having issues installing and running backups on there Ps3′s due to the bug in PL3 that effects file permissions. Here is what I have been doing to get around the black screen hangs and disc read errors.

1. fire up multiman, blackb0x, whatever ftp & transfer your backup
2. run your lv2 pkg of choice
3. run the fix permissions app that is installed from running the package located above

The app will go through the HD and correct the file permission errors that come with using PL3. I have been using this method after each game backup I install, however if you install (ftp/copy) 5 at a time the app only needs to be run once and it will fix all 5 games as it does its magic to the entire drive.
Now as far as USB, hampster driven HD's etc I can not say as I do not have any of the above so I have not tested it myself.

I am using Rogero Manager. It also told me on GT5 that I would have to fix the EBOOT which it did itself and then the game fired right up. I played multiple races before backing out of the game. As always with all the games I will just put in my Modern Warfare 2 disc and leave it in the drive regardless of what backup I want to play.

But honestly I have had no issues at all besides when I backed up Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and it would freeze at the opening of the game but it did it the same time every time which tells me that the game is not compatible. I also checked it on the compatibility list and it says it does not work so that all makes sense.

I am using the NTSC-U version of GT5 if it makes a difference. I have an excellent site to get games from so maybe you got a bad copy of the game? Not sure but at least this is how I have gotten all my games to work. I am transferring Uncharted 2 as we speak and I will let you know if I run into any problems.

Hi! Are you using Multiman or Rogero to launch your games? Are you launching it using the home\games or using a game bluray inside?

I had problems with two games in internal HD, my PS3 freezes certain times. GT5 and Uncharted 2 in Rogero gave me a message that the EBOOT.BIN must have permissions fixed. Before it, when I tried to launch these games, I had black screen. After it, I can play it, but the system freezes sometimes.

With the jailbreak dongle, I never had any problems.

I don't know why, but my ps3 was hanging using this firmware. I was playing GT5 and it hanged while saving. Result, my save file was corrupted. My luck is that I played only 3 championships and was at level 6...

Anyone has hanging issues? Uncharted 2 hanged a lot of times too... I am considering rolling back to 3.41 OFW. How can I do this? I have a PS3Break dongle.

If anyone can help me. Thanks

I get the 2 firmwares mixed up sorry. Anyway I have lost the option to reinstall official or CFW, tried 2 different usb devices and tried the XMB and recovery.

Both say no applicable update software is available!

I am running Wanikoko's CFW successfully. My question is probably simple, but it's better safe than sorry... I did a backup using the Backup Utility awhile back (back at OFW 3.41) and now that I am on CFW 3.55, if I do a restore using the Backup Utility will it cause any harm to the 'hack/mod' or will I just need to reinstalled my FTP and Backup Loader?

Thanks

Had no trouble with it on my slim. Took me better part of an hour and a half to copy FFXIII (using Rogero) to the HD but was rewarded with some faster loading times (although loading a save is slowed down a bit for some reason). Shame Sonic All Stars didn't work but I've been unable to use the disc to get past the menu for a while, guess that's a trip down to the local GAME...

Just hoping future firmwares upgrade easily from this. If there's a way to give all CFW a standard sign that'd be great.
