Home PS4 News - Latest PlayStation 4 and PS3 News

February 21, 2011 // 6:46 pm - We are a team of 3 guys who have been working on a Nintendo 64 emulator for quite some time now, and we have decided to go out with the news since now our N64 emulator is officially working on the PS3.

We still have a huge load of things to work on, but it's playable and N64 is finally working on the PS3.

What we have done so far:

  • 1 player (keyboard only)
  • We have succeeded to enable gameshark codes
  • Graphics works excellent on most games we have tried; Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Ridge Racer 64, Diddy Kong Racer, Mario Kart 64, Banjo Kazooie and 1080 Snowboard.
  • Games we have tried that are jerky (so far): Duke Nukem 64, Doom 64, Hexen 64 and WCW Smackdown 64.

Issues (we are working on):

  • Audio is not working yet.
  • A user interface and the ability to edit and change files such as controller settings, cheat codes, etc. (We do all this over FTP now).
  • Game menu (we now have to upload one game at the time).
  • PS3 controller, (we now have to use a USB keyboard).
  • Multiplayer.

We have decided to use ps3news and youtube to communicate with you guys, and if you want to help us out, feel free to either email us at [email protected] or PM us on youtube.

We will upload videos for every new feature or issue we fix, so please subscribe to us on youtube. We want to keep you guys updated so you can follow our process.

And we will of course update you here as well since this is the official ps3 news website for hackers. Please share the video and all that stuff.

Here's the youtube video we just uploaded:

And have a nice day

it's not really the shakeyness though it's the obvious cuts on all 3 videos as soon as the screen goes black after selecting an app from the xmb. The videos have 100% been sliced together.

and a PC emulator?? lol

Who cares how crap the video is.

Even a HD none shakey video could be faked. Maybe he simply doesnt care less what phone he has and is still rocking a VGA camera or maybe his phones so old its made up mostly of dust and the lends is a mess.

Or maybe hes more interested in getting it done than becoming a hollywood movie director?

Good work anyway, will grab this for the sake of having it. Still hoping for a psx and possibly a saturn emulator. Would be great if one of these devs could make a PC emulator if its even possible. Wouldnt mind playing my Football Manager on my PS3 ha.

Wow I mean Im excited and all but couldn't someone on the dev team afford even a dazzle to capture the video? lol. a cellphone camera sucks for this very reason but other than my ranting and complaining, i am very happy for the devs to have brought this to life, it's an amazing homebrew idea/concept and deployment. can't wait to test this out officially.

It's not that I feel the devs owe me anything. It's that IDC. Just like you don't care about me, or the dying aids victims in Africa or all the whales in our oceans being hunted, or the destruction of our rainforests. Just like the guy who steals the radio out of your car doesn't give a hoot about who it actually belongs to. LOL and there's nothing you can do about it.

ps. thanks geohot, you rock.

Stay focused on the topic and if you have something constructive to help this project along then by all means input. I think what is missing from the project is the correct controller and sound plugins, I've worked on N64 emulators in the past and they are quite finicky when it comes to compatible plugins.

Anyone have experience in GUI or plugins related to N64 emulation?

From YouTube, to quote: "for the skeptics why don't you just set the phone on a table or a chair far enough back so we can see the tv and ps3 and you controlling it

scottklitz I know but the phone is too thin to stand on the table, and the only chair I have is too small so you will not be able to see the screen. But I will figure it out.

But wasn't this an ok proof though? I mean you can clearly see the whole process and all because of the light, and it's bright enough now to see everything on the screen, the ps3 and the TV."

I'll be very happy if this turns out to be real, but the evidence seems to overwhelmingly point to the videos being fake.

Listen to the audio and watch the videos. In EACH ONE, right after he chooses to start whatever app he's choosing to start, there's a clear cut in the video. In the first and second video, you can even hear him fumbling for the "pause" button on his camera. Then in the third video, he dubs over the audio so you can't hear him punching the pause button, but you can still clearly see the shot change (auto white balance causes the color to look different and there's a slight "jump") at 32 seconds.

I look forward to the day when a real N64 emulator is released, but I don't think this is it. Maybe the devs ARE working on one, but this is the wrong way to promote it.
