February 9, 2011 // 7:51 am - As Sony usually does several days after each new PlayStation 3 Firmware update is released, today they have patched the proxy and PSN bypass methods following the release of the revised PS3 Firmware 3.56 rendering the PS3 DNS hacks useless once again.

Needless to say, when the next PS3 Firmware update arrives the PlayStation Network bypass methods will work again for another week or so before they are shut off, and the cycle will repeat for those unfamiliar with this pattern.

It also looks like Sony is remotely freezing PS3's that are already online using the bypass and when I unplugged the hard ps3 and booted it back up it wanted me to rebuild by database ^_^

Happened to both of my PS3's, leave me some feedback if this happed to any of you guys. Rebooted PS3's and had 2 extra applications on my XMB that were corrupt WTF?

pretty sure there won't be a bypass anymore, with the ability for sony to run remote code after psn login on 3.56 that means any ps3 without that ability will be easily detectable and those with it have no idea what kind remote code sony is running. It'd be pointless to try.

Well I actually own some of the ROMS I have so there still is no piracy.

Yea, $ony own PSN so they can do what they want. That shouldn't stop us finding a way to play online. If the devs can make CFW then they should be able to see whats stopping us from getting online and making a patch for either CFW or a homebrew app so we can get back online.

If not then lets look at other ways. Making our own PSN (Or as I said in another thread FSN) so we can get online without the restrictions $ony force on us.

You may own your PS3 and I think that should give you the right to run homebrew and emulators (although you still would be pirating the roms) but do you own PSN?, no sony does... so by your own logic they should be able to do what they want with it.

Guys, if you like playing online and / or using online features, just flash back your PS3 to OFC, buy some games and here you go. You just can't have both features, playing backup games and being on the PSN. As you flashed your PS3 to CFW you just decided to exclude yourselves from the PSN, finito.

Even some offline games force you to upgrade. People on 3.15 were forced to upgrade to play Red Dead Redemption and now everyone is forced to upgrade to 3.55 to play the latest games. I can't wait for the bypasses so we can play whatever game on whatever firmware online or offline.

Someone else is talking about a public PSN network. Now thats sounds like a great idea. A PSN $ony have no control over and we can play online games all we want without their hold over us. I've already come up with the name... FSN (FreeStation Network) LOL

No one stopps you from staying on whatever firmware you want to stay on. The only thing they restrict you from is using SONYS SERVERS. Their T&C's for PSN only allows you access if you are on the newest firmware.

I also hate to keep on being offline because of their updates but hey, its their servers you use for playing online and so they can ban, block or do whatever they want with us as long as it is regarding their network. the only thing I think is not right but they do it anyway is that you have to keep going online to renew the license for games you BOUGHT on PSN. with buying them they should be yours without being forced to update your firmware just so that you can renew the license

Go read the thread on cheaters and hackers. They are 2 different things. Cheaters were around way before CFW came out for the PS3 so you cant put the 2 together. You don't need CFW to cheat.

Just coz you run homebrew doesn't make you a pirate. ALL homebrew is FREE and so its the CFW its run on. Piracy is not involved at all.
