December 7, 2010 // 2:31 pm - Since the release of PS3 Firmware v3.55 there is no sense in keeping the master key a secret any more - it has been released, along with unencrypted payloads, and a promise to release the source-code by PS3YES for a free PSGrade PS3 downgrader.

Download: PSGrade / PSGrade PS3 Hex Codes / psgrade_teensy_at90usb1286_16.hex by littlebalup

Of note, the downgrade hex will only work on PS3's with a firmware of 3.50 or below.

The same team which brought the PSN spoof for online support of jailbreaks now has also brought us a Free Downgrade HEX for the PS3! PS3YES has released un-encrypted HEX files for downloading.

They promise open-source code to be release soon, but find below pre-compiled HEX files:

PSGRADE AT90USB646-16Mhz Teensy++ 1.0
PSGRADE AT90USB1286-16Mhz Teensy++ 2.0

This is the last line from psgrade_ps3yes.hex

Of note, The master key has been stated to be:

[Register or Login to view code]

Furthermore: A PS3YES flash update and PS3 Downgrade guide have been posted here and PS3Key flashes have been posted here.

PS3YES has stated, to quote:

"Our downgrade firmware is based on the PSGrade project, we will open the source soon.

Support for the following:

PS3YES AT90USB162 8mhz
PS3YES AT90USB162 16mhz
AT90USBKEY at90usb1287 8mhz
Teensy++ 1.0 at90usb646 16mhz
Teensy++ 2.0 at90usb1286 16mhz

Remember PS3YES were the first to release that PSN Hack that lasted a week on their Chinese forums!

Also sadly v3.55 is out so you can only use this great release to Downgrade v3.50 or LOWER firmwares!

NOTE: Importing the HEX to other devices using current payload converters will NOT work!"

graf_chokolo says: The key from KaKaRoTo for 0xAAAA dongle id is fine Just tested it by communicating directly with USB Dongle Authenticator from GameOS through DM VUART. Congratulations KaKaRoTo Good work!

So any firmware below 2.30 will say the following in the log: Updating or Verifying failure 0x8002f14b

When the console is booted the green light will flash and stay on for eternity which is the PS3's way of saying that there is a failure.

The downgrader payload only puts the ps3 into service mode.

The other files do the actual downgrading.

That's the only part that's confusing me...

I didn't mean that really Even though I make my own dongles I'd prefer to have something with PROPER support (chinese albeit) and up to date.

My dongles rely on PSgroove code - they work fine for everything other than DGing.

Lets hope my E3 don't get lost on it's way from the sunny u.s of a. Comes to something when it's cheaper to buy from abroad than your own country because people here (UK) are just greedy. 98% of them are dropshipping for chinese companies just to make easy £££ & charge you DOUBLE of what the item costs just cos they're UK based supplier...

I don't mind waiting for my goodies. Keeps me excited til it turns up

Umm.. see here:
I was running 2.30 and decided to see what would happen if I updated to 3.41 debug using the e3 downgrader. Turns out it bricks it

Heres the log:

Strange part:

os version = 03.4100
build_version = 45038,20100721
region of core os package = 0xa0000000
build_target = DEX-ww
build target id = 0x82
manufacturing updating SUCCESS(0x8002f000)

Turns out 2.15 debug doesnt even launch, it just makes the green light flash (meaning the whole process will come up as FAILURE in the log)

hey! leave the e3 alone, its a fine device. the 4mb on-board storage is the space for payloads, how cool is that.

seeing as we dont have any self files other than the downgrading and turning off service mode one - nothing lol.

sony can do a whole lot though. change serials and ids and reassign hardware etc. but hey, i don't know everything.

Wow! 24 hours since I last logged on... Wish I didn't order the E3. But hey, least I'll have a backup to play with.

Great work to all those involved!

My second favourite and the second cheapest clone now supports downgrading!
PS3USBJAILBREAK Downgrader released - Date: 12-08-2010

Downgrader for PS3SUBJailbreak has now released.
Please download our programming tools v1.2.8 to reflash.

Unrelated news: The lowest you can downgrade without failure is 2.30! And you cant downgrade/upgrade to a debug firmware without failure either!

Recover your PS3 by running the 3.41 modified firmware or in the worst case re-enter service mode and try all over again.

Hey boss you should note that I had previously discovered the lowest firmware you can goto is 2.30 - Go any lower and it will fail
