February 18, 2011 // 3:02 pm - I found this over on NextGen Update (linked above) and it seems promising regarding unbanning PS3 consoles and also anti-ban methods for the PlayStation 3 Console ID and PSN Sign-In.

Here are the details from their site: ANTI BAN+maybe unban: YOU CAN COMPLETELY REMOVE YOUR CONSOLE ID AND SIGN IN.

To do this simply leave second value blank not tested on a banned ps3 yet but it should work+you can hide your console id which can prevent you from getting banned.

First do the PSN Bypass Method: In charles there is a request for a file called auth what it contains is your username, password and console id.

This is what the request file looks like:

x's are just me protecting my info

consoleid=0000000xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx00000000 000000000000000000000000

To get your console id have Charles running with the ssl and all that stuff

Sign in and on charles you will see two new files

Click on

Then /nav

And lastly auth

When you click auth, info should appear on the right click request and you should see your console id to copy it right click on auth and save request then open it and look for consoleid=0000000xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx00000000 000000000000000000000000

That's your console id to change it go to tools, rewrite and if you have it set up you should already see the stuff to edit the header so click on PS3 3.55 then you should see 2 boxes.

On the bottom box, click add, then where it says type make it body. make sure only request is selected. make the first value is your console id, example the first value would be consoleid=0000000123456789012345678901234500000000 000000000000000000000000

And the second on is the one you want it changed to and where it says "where" make sure request is only selected.

Example of the second value is consoleid=0000000987654321098765432109876500000000 000000000000000000000000

You can only change it to a valid console id, cannot be random or just left blank.

Apparently Sony bans the console ID and if you use charles and send a black console ID you can still sign in and since the console ID doesn't go to sony because you send a blank value they can't ban your number, also some people tried this that were banned from black ops and they were able to play again because thats how black ops had banned was by the console ID but I don't know if this works.. maybe someone that is already banned should try this and post their results.

Couldn't we just buy a PS3, hijack the console ID and return the console to get our money back and a fresh console ID?

Is this something an end-user can do?

yeah but you'd have to get their console id, which you can only get by either running homebrew or sniffing the packets on their local network (after setting their PS3 to send its traffic to you). Mind you I'd imagine half the guys doing repairs on PS3's have probably already started collecting keys.

They'll not ban you for 3rd party peripheral, its just in there because they removed aload of them a few updates ago, think it was 3.50 people just tend to over react when they read the terms have changed.

what is it exactly their machines look for when making a ban for cfw/circumvention devices running on the ps3? why not ban me for using a 3rd party peripheral? + i read to hide homebrew emus or games to change the names of the folders where they are installed?? will that hold any weight?

So you can unban yourself by letting another PS3 get banned? I would do that with those 'typical sony fanboys anti hombrew kids are not allowed modding consoles by there parents people'

no its still a safe system, i'd be 80% sure those console ID's gain access through a whitelist and the keys are random (well as random as it gets no relationship from one key to the next). which means as long as you don't give out your key you're safe and PSN is safe. there's no brute forcing it or generating them if they're random.

I have updated the first post now to reflect this correction.

If you are a victim and its a mistake, contact them and explain, they will let you back on again if your reasons are just. And like Barry said they don't allow anyone on the network without joining in some way, even if you quick connect your still in one way agreeing to their terms, like age and location, then it activates the PS3, so it knows were you live to give you local TV stuff and so on. In the process it has your IP address, and consoles information ready to trace back to your isp if needed.

But don't worry about the ISP side because 9 times out of 10 your isp will tell them where to get off, unless you've hacked them or terrorists etc. or until Sony enforce a court order on them.

Your ISP does not hand out user information to anyone, unless as I said they have a court order I believe, and then and only then its down to them how far their archives go back.

Well, the end of this will be a PSN account for each PS3 in the next firmware. No more multiple accounts, only one, with your e-mail and password attached to your ps3.

And that will blow that Cloud thing they were doing about taking your save files to your friend's house by entering your psn login and password in your friend's ps3.

Anyway, sony is screwed, one way will ban "innocent" consoles another way will remove another feature that is multiple account (but sony is very good removing things, hun ?) and that way will kill Cloud app.

There is no good exit for them.
