January 9, 2011 // 3:19 am - Spanish PlayStation 3 developer nathan_r32_69 has posted a Beta release of PS3 CFW Evilnat today along with details on their BackUp Loader WIP.

To quote, roughly translated via Google:

CFW Evilnat BETA

Good fellow, you know that I decided to make a CFW and investigate, since the programming along with the PS3 is a pretty fun hobby.

"This software is shared with no warranty. Neither I, nor members of PS3SOS liable for any damages to your console. Use with caution."

I have access to the archives of the kernel of the PUP, as I can I start to create the Backup Loader.

Took several days creating this CFW as many already know, only with the disadvantage that do not have Kakarot tool as it gives me errors everywhere, so I'm doing everything manually, and it takes more logically.

I know many will think that I'm doing a CFW own seeing what's online and who are very advanced, I know I could be stupid, but the reason is very easy, if not the major draw, if I get SI Exposing LO.

The firmware that you create and modify debug options enabled take, I have all minimum. At the moment these are the ones that are built:

  • Install Packages Files
  • app_home/PS3_GAME/
  • Title Store Preview (InGame) (Added on 09/07/2011)
  • Title Preview Store (Store) (Added on 09/07/2011)

I wanted to share with you CFW early yet to give me ideas and comments and stuff.

For now equals that of KaKaRoToKS, as this phase Beta and very green for now installed demos from Install Package Files and run like yours, has taken me days to finish because I have little free time.

I have only made the version 3.41 , also the hare of 3.55 and 3.15 if it can be (for those who are still in that version).

Tomorrow I will put the download link if you want to leaf through and tinker with, I will add new features like the Debug Options in Settings.

Right now I leave it installed to mess with homebrew signed and improve your firmware, and also edit the Game OS.

Those who try to comment on whether any CFW installs fine and others I can not install because I'm at 3.41 and lost the support of the dongles.

I am trying to understand why someone couldnt just make a package file and sign it. Make the package add the LV2 sys cals that we need from jailbreak dongles. That way ANY FW can become CFW. The only thing I can see us needing is a MFW that has the apps folder. That way we can see what is on the USb stick to actually install them.

It would be nice if its added to a firmware from the start, but not needed. These guys addind the same thing as all the others are useless. If it ever gets backup loading going for it then great, in the mean time I see no reason to install this over one of the others.

Eboot patching is only a band aid for the moment until we get 3.55 cfw or backup support. There is no reason why we should have to keep patching these games like this. Not to mention that very very soon the games released will be compiled with 3.55 and actually USE syscalls from that FW that the older ones do not have. At that point we will NEED backup loading on those newer FW's. No other way around it.

well wip is better than nothing right? Hopefully in the next three months the really talented devs come out with the real cfw we want. Kernel access (syscalls built in) cinivia gone (if possible) and on the latest official update or at least 3.50 so we don't have to hack as many games.

i would love to see this come thru altho i have no problem with the current jailbreak right now.

this would only be icing on the cake, cuz we can now edit eboot to make them work with 3.41 so all games will be able to work now.

but as i said, this would be icing on the cake, and i like icing on my cake

Afaik it's with BM support, still haven't any real faqs, just some italian article so i don't want to speculate to much time will tell aight

The last Cios of his asked if you wanted to install for homebrew or piracy reasons. If you chose piracy it would boot you out of the program with a stern warning.

actually he was against it , at some point his CIOS would not allow pirating , then it got hacked , so he stopped bothering.

He releses cios's with is used for back uploader's so i'm pretty sure he is all for it.

Based on the lack of feedback for them thus far, I think that is what most people are doing honestly... sticking with BM's until CFW's (or direct loaders, no CFW needed at all) reach a point where they can run PS3 backups.

Except for those who want to learn, it seems like a lot of hassle for average users to bother experimenting with them now knowing in advance that none support game backups yet.
