Rogero PS3 Custom Firmware v3.6 for 3.55 CFW Users Arrives

128w ago - Following up on his previous revision, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer Rogero has updated his PS3 Custom Firmware to version 3.6 for 3.55 CFW users with details on the changes below.

Download: Rogero PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW) v3.6 / Rogero PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW) v3.6 (Mirror)

To quote: v3.6 Changelog

  • Updated the system version spoof to 4.25 to prevent accidental system updates --> at least from Game Discs ( internet/Sony communication is not blocked to allow future PSN access addition if possible, that's why you see the Update message when you try to Log-In to PSN ) so if anyone Insists to Update... go ahead, it's possible...
  • Please note that this CFW is an update to v:3.4 , it doesn't have any 3.56/3.60 keys like the EXPERIMENTAL CFW v:3.5
It is so stable and doesn't have any problem with Blu-Ray discs playback because the loaders are not patched like they are in v:3.5

MD5: 894132f31b3814893b4710c0b640c71f

For those following, this PS3 Custom Firmware update comes just a few days after PS3 System Software Update v4.25 was released by Sony.

Aw that sucks. Maybe I should think of a way to put a lock on disk port to not let it accept or recognize disks or something >_>

I don't think so, I guess you'll just have to decline each update you get from a disc.

I see. There isn't any way to keep the ps3 from at least noticing or ignoring the update and just not let it play?

Some games will update because of the "PS3_UPDATE" on the disc which already has the update. You could delete the "PS3_UPDATE" folder for backed up games and that will stop it from asking for updates too. Not sure if it will connect to PSN though.

You could change the version of the game to the latest one in the Param.sfo file to stop it updating. I've done it with a few games to play online.

The game itself will ask for a patch like 1.01 for example. But it will not install the newest firmware automatically.

Does the spoofer prevent newer games from updating the ps3?
