195w ago - This weekend Sony PlayStation 3 hackers Cyberskunk and evilsperm have released Rebug CFW 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 for PS3, Rebug CFW 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 for OtherOS++ Custom Firmware users and a 3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0 for the PS3 entertainment system.

Download: Rebug CFW 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 for PS3 / Rebug Update Package 0.2 for PS3 / Rebug CFW 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 OtherOS++ for PS3 / PS3 3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0

Details from the official site: IMPORTANT UPDATE - FOR REBUG 3.55.2 USERS ONLY

Two bugs have been brought to our attention were some users are experiencing either a system crash when exiting any apps or games in NORMAL MODE and/or the updated Rebug Selector will not allow the mode to be changed. Both of these bugs were not experienced in testing so we apologies for any inconvenience.

We have found and fixed the problems and have provided for you a small update that any users of REBUG 3.55.2 should install.

First thing you will notice is the new Rebug Selector 1.6 is using the old 1.2 UI layout. It appears so far that the new menu was what was causing issue for some users. So for now to get things moving along for people we have gone back to the old one.

REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2

REBUG has been updated to 3.41.3 and 3.55.2. For REBUG OtherOS++ and the ability to set QA Token from GameOS please go to the REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 OTHEROS++ post.

  • ADDED - LV2: Peek and Poke support for LV1 (3.55.2 ONLY) (gitbrew.org)

  • FEATURE - Fake Save Data Owner (Use Game Saves from ANY Owner)
  • FEATURE - Lock/Unlock Trophies
  • FEATURE - Cinavia protection disabled
  • FEATURE - Debug for HDD Exchange Utility (Clone your HDD straight to USB HDD, NO QA Token needed)

INSTALL: REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 can be installed over the same or lower version OFW/CFW/MFW on any model PS3 through the XMB or Recovery Mode.

UNINSTALL: REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 can be uninstalled with the same version OFW/CFW/MFW on any model PS3 through the XMB or Recovery Mode.

PACKAGE MANAGER: Package Manager is a replacement for the standard ★ Install Package Files option under Game in the XMB. It allows for the install and deletion of .pkg files from 'dev_hdd0/packages', 'dev_usb/packages' and the standard '★ Install Package Files' locations. In addition to this, your downloaded PSN content will appear under this menu instead of cluttering your 'Game' menu with uninstalled content.

There is also a directory in dev_flash called rebug which has another directory in it packages. It is in this directory that you will find Rebug_Selector_1.5.pkg and BDEMU.pkg. These can be installed using the PS3 HDD option in Package Manager.

USAGE: Navigate to Game in your XMB and click on ★ Package Manager (It will be where '★ Install Package Files' usually is). You will find three options.

★ PlayStation Network Content - Manage your downloaded PlayStation Network Content.

★ Install Package Files - INSTALL package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

PS3 Hard Disk - (dev_hdd0/packages)
Package Folder - (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location - (Standard ★ Install Package Files locations)

NOTE: The Install All Packages is only available by pressing the TRIANGLE button when the Standard Package Location option is highlighted because the PS3 will only install ALL packages from the root of a storage device as of the moment.

★ Delete Package Files - DELETE package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

PS3 Hard Disk - (dev_hdd0/packages)
Package Folder - (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location - (Standard ★ Install Package Files locations)

1: Highlight the file you would like to delete and press TRIANGLE. The sidebar should appear.
2: Press CROSS on either Unlink or Unlink(Folder) (Both do the same thing for now).

Included - Install using PS3 HDD option in Package Manager.

★Rebug Selector is a tool for switching the XMB and ★Debug Settings menu. When you run the tool you will see displayed what MODE, XMB and DEBUG MENU you are using.

You will also see that AUTO REBOOT is set to OFF, which means when you choose an option from DEBUG MENU SELECT the PS3 will exit back to the XMB automaticly speeding up the menu switching process.

As soon as you choose an option from either MODE SELECT or XMB SELECT the AUTO REBOOT will set to ON and the user must manually exit the tool using the PS button on the controller once they are satisfied with their selections. This is so the VSH changes can take effect.

MODE SELECT: Switches between NORMAL and REBUG mode

NORMAL mode is the default mode after installing Rebug. It uses the DEBUG XMB and allows switching between the two different ★Debug Settings menus.

NOTE: NORMAL mode MUST be set if you wish to reinstall official firmware through the XMB.

REBUG mode sets the PS3 to the latest available version spoof (updatable in the future) and allows swapping between RETAIL and DEBUG XMB in addition to switching between the two different ★Debug Settings menus DEX (debug) and CEX QA (retail).

Press L1+CROSS to set: [NORMAL MODE] or [REBUG MODE]

XMB SELECT: This option only works in REBUG mode and lets you select either the RETAIL or DEBUG XMB.

Press R1+CROSS to use: [RETAIL XMB] or [DEBUG XMB]

DEBUG MENU SELECT: Gives you the choice of the ★Debug Settings menu from CEX (retail) or DEX (debug) firmware.

Press R2+CROSS to use: [MENU 1] (CEX QA) or [MENU 2] (DEX)

CREATE PACKAGE FOLDER ON PS3: For use with Package Manager. This option will exit automaticly if AUTO REBOOT is set to off.

Press SELECT to create [dev_hdd0/packages]

NOTE: No matter what XMB or DEBUG MENU you are using, the debug options you have running will remain active.

EXTRA INFO: Rebug Selector DOES NOT copy any files to dev_flash when performing it's tasks, instead it renames (Much safer and much much faster). All the files are already installed on dev_flash and the tool has more than a dozen checks to make sure nothing goes wrong, including a check to see if it is being used on Rebug firmware. Trying to run Rebug Selector on firmware other than Rebug will cause the tool to auto exit before the user gets to make a choice or see anything on the screen.

REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 OTHEROS++

Thanks to the tireless work of the masterminds over at gitbrew.org bringing our beloved OtherOS back to our PS3′s, we are able to give you guys REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 OtherOS++.

Both of the REBUG OtherOS++ PUP's will give you 22GB of OtherOS HDD space and have all the features of REBUG plus all the features of gitbrew's OtherOS++ CFW and of course the ability to set your own QA Token from GameOS using the qa_flag.pkg from over at gitbrew.org.

If you want to add OtherOS++ support to REBUG 3.41.3 or 3.55.2 yourself, we have provided the patch_lv1_for_rebug.tcl task file for patching the Lv1 Hyperviser with PS3MFW Builder 0.2.

It is the EXACT patch_lv1.tcl from gitbrew.org minus the lv1 memory mapping and lv1 peek and poke as it is already patched in REBUG.

We can not and will not take any credit for the task file or PS3MFW Builder 0.2 Portable. We have provided them at the bottom of this post for your convenience.

1: Add the patch_lv1_for_rebug.tcl file to the tasks folder of PS3MFW Builder 0.2. It will appear as Patch Lv1 Hypervisor for REBUG in the task list.
2: Deselect ALL tasks except Patch Lv1 Hypervisor for REBUG and Patch emergency init
3: Press the Configure>> button next to Patch emergency init and
select how big to make your GameOS/OtherOS++ partition
4: Use REBUG 3.41.3 or 3.55.2 firmware as your input firmware.
5: Select output directory and filename.
6: Click on Build MFW
7: Rename output PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and install on the PS3. OR

1: Download PS3MFW Builder 0.2 Portable Win32 from the bottom of this post (All of the tasks have been pre-selected for you).
2: Click on ps3mfw.exe
3: Press the Configure>> button next to Patch emergency init and select how big to make your GameOS/OtherOS++ partition
4: Use REBUG 3.41.3 or 3.55.2 firmware as your input firmware.
5: Select output directory and filename.
6: Click on Build MFW
7: Rename output PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and install on the PS3.

NOTE: Deselect ALL other tasks EXCEPT Patch all SELF/SPRX to secure privacy for REBUG.

Once you have your firmware installed go here and download the following files:

  • setup_flash_for_otheros.pkg
  • dtbImage.ps3.bin (For 16MB NOR) or dtbImage.ps3.bin.minimal (For 256MB NAND)
  • install_otheros.pkg
  • boot_otheros.pkg
  • reboot.pkg
  • create_hdd_region.sh
  • hdd_access.sh

Now that you have the necessary tools to begin installing OtherOS++ head over here and READ AND FOLLOW the guide properly, starting at step 2. These guys have put a lot of time into getting this to work so we'll say it again, READ AND FOLLOW the guide.

3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0

3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0 is available for 3.41 and 3.55 firmware and is much faster and safer to use than the previous version spoofers. It works like the ★ Rebug Selector and backs up your current files before activating the spoof, then auto reboots leaving no room for end-user error.

INSTALL: Press L1+CROSS to INSTALL 3.66 Version Spoof files to your PS3

UNINSTALL: Press L1+CIRCLE to UNINSTALL (this will deactivate the spoofer, remove the spoof files from dev_flash and reboot if needed)

~Codename: REBUG Team.

In related news, an anonymous user made available BSPatch Rebug 3.55.2 Pre-Update v0.2 which is an executable BSPatch for Rebug 3.55.2 (REBUG_3.55.2_PS3UPDAT.PUP) with the last Rebug Update Package 0.2 without installing it. The vsh.self was replaced from the Rebug update package v0.2 bug fix and the Rebug_Selector_1.6.pkg has been inserted.

PS3 user mstrthief00 has posted a YouTube video (below) of a Rebug 3.55.2 bug and from the video's caption: Went from 3.55.1 + update 0.1 to 3.55.2, everytime I quit blackbox ftp, coldboot installer or any homebrew, the "Connect the controller using a USB cable, then press the PS button message pop and force to reboot.

Fix - use Rebug Selector switch to Rebug Mode and XMB Retail. Hope its to help for someone with the same issue, sorry for my bad English.

Finally, raxxus and nuck1982 of German site Boerse.bz have made available Rebug version 3.55.2 translated into the German language alongside creating a few tasks for PS3MFW Builder.

Download: Rebug 3.55.2 Patched Deutsch (German) (178.52 MB) / Rebug 3.55.2 Tools (German) (6.22 MB)

To quote, roughly translated: I've completely translated rebug 3.55.2 into German, that means all debug entries, package manager, qa-update and the menu entry "app_home/PS3_GAME /" has become "Starte Spiel... (Ohne Disc)". The "Debug Settings" are now just called "Debug".

It is only the resource-files (icons and texts) nothing else. I've also enclosed a nice "write-flash" tool with which you can share resources easily. It only writes in the "dev_flash / vsh / resource"-folder, nowhere else.

Created 2 folder on a USB-Stick, "modz" and "backup". The backup must be created manually by simply save the resource folder under "dev_flash / vsh / resource" somewhere. Copy the original rco files, which you will change, in the backup folder and put the modded files (from the download; without the pkg and the tcl's of course!) into the "modz" folder. The tool ES35 Cutomize explains by itself in the options. Or simply use the latest Multiman and copy the files manually into folders using new flash-write function.

Some debug entries sound better in English and I did not translate some deliberate.. I have made a task for the ps3mfwbuilder on my own. It allows you to patch the official rebug 3.55.2 pup with the update files from 0.4, the privacy patch and the modded rcos.

Simply extract the update pkg 0.4 from rebug, and specify the files from the update_files folder, as well as the modded rcos when creating the pup. Everything else runs automatically.

About the privacy patch: I've intentionally omitted playstation.net, otherwise some psn games do not run. I'm just a small rebug fan, not more. I've newly patched a Rebug 3.55.2:

  • Debug Settings in German
  • Package Manager in German
  • App / home renamed to start 'Spiel starten (ohne Disk)'
  • Integrated Rebug Update 0.4 Package
  • Suppressed some communication to advertising partners of Sony (Sony is not patched, some PSN would not longer run)
  • Integrated Rebug Selector 1.6
  • TV menu is now called 'Werkzeuge' (due to the creator of the files, because it uses TV as a Homebrew Channel)

Otherwise nothing has changed in the firmware. I have tested the firmware and everything works. The thanks goes to raxxus for the provision of the files and the task for the MFW Builder.

I had that problem, what I did was install a fresh 3.55OFW on top using safe mode, then install CFW from scratch.

Hello all, Hopefully someone can help me out here. I haven't really used my CFW ps3 in awhile and was so excited to get on psn to update trophies that I forgot to delete 3.66 spoof when going from KMEAW to REBUG and now my ps3 is stuck at 3.66 spoof and even thought I am on rebug 3.55.2 with selector 1.6, the ps3 still shows as spoofing 3.66 instead of 4.11 so I can't get onto psn.

Also I can't use the spoof .pkg to delete the 3.66 as it gives me an error when I try to launch. And now I can't even go back to stock firmware to go back to KMEAW because firmware version 3.55 updates wont show in the xmb when its spoofed t 3.66...

is there a way for me to FTP and edit files manually to get it back at 3.55 so that the firmware spoof will work?

I really need some help because at this point I have really backed myself into a corner

The normal version without Otheos one works perfectly but beware. That if you runned the rebug selector there is a chance to Semi-Brick your Ps3

So this is the 4.10 phassphrase 0e444f4dbd92145de39ab5bff3a23071f9d44db7bcf13e8c455c81f1, how did they obtain them with a packetsniffer? Or did they decrypt a 4.10 certificate from the ps3 ?

as long as your pushlist is clean, you may be safe from detection. but either way, there's no way for them to determine you if youre using a jailbreak or not.
