XMB Manager Plus v0.10

XMB Manager Plus (XMBM+) is a new XMB category based off of REBUG’s Package Manager, which is a modded version of the official (debug/Jailbreak)

"Install Package Files" XMB option.

This will replace the "Install Package Files" option or for REBUG CFW "Package Manager".

XMB Manager Plus allows the entire PS3 filesystem to be browsed and/or deleted (all file types supported), We have added functions to REBUG's "Package Manager" and renamed it to Package Manager Plus, it consists of all previous features plus it now includes new "Homebrew Downloader" category that has options to download a selection of popular PS3 homebrew packages.

We have also added a new "Game Data Manager" that contains all games data type tools, like saves, backups, etc. There are plenty more options also available in this new update, see the changelog below.

Discussion and Support:

Your feedback is always welcome.

Main Features in XMBM+ v0.10

Package Manager Plus

Allows homebrew/packages to be easily downloaded, installed and deleted.

PS3 XMB Manager Plus (XMBM+) v0.11 Beta 2 Changelog:

In this beta version the main change is a new Development main item (will not be used in release version)

What this does is create a Folder that has some items:

1. My xcb tests: For easy making your tests without changing the rest of the strcture (SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/my_xcb_tests.xml). I included 9 tests just for example.
2. XMB Database (HDD): Display all objects and it's fields in HDD XMB databse to check if they are used or not (SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/xmb_db_hdd.xml and SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/xmb_db_hdd_rest.xml)
3. XMB Database (SYSTEM): Display all objects and it's fields in SYSTEM XMB databse to check if they are used or not (SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/xmb_db_system.xml and SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/xmb_db_system_rest.xml)

Note 1: due to memory issues you can only have the complete HDD or SYSTEM XMB database displayed at a time. You can easy swap them in SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/development_main.xml
Note 2: HDD table and SYSTEM table display different results since one queries hdd items and other removable and optical drives items (see

The "Development" folder works on HDD or USB's without further changes. I allready made the path adaptations.

Changelog from Beta 1:

  • Added 2 new CloneD realistic icons
  • [game_main.xml] Corrected icon in usb1
  • [game_main.xml] Corrected usb6 references
  • [game_main.xml] adaptations for new structure for "Development" folder
  • [SOURCES/XXXX/FEATURES/Game_Data_Manager.xml] new structure for managing and deleting trophies (can view an delete up to 5 users now)
  • [SOURCES/XXXX/DEVELOPMENT/*] new xmls for more easy testing XMB functions

Some regards for the "Development" folder:

  • You will notice that many of the object fields will return a "There is no data" message. This means that none of the records in that object has that field populated, or, all have a null value. In summary, it means you can't use that object field for nothing!
  • If all the fields in an object have a "There is no data" message it means that that object as no records. In summary, it means you can't use that object for nothing!
  • If any object field retuned something (games, a moving circular arrows, etc) it means that object field has some value, you them can tests different layout/context options with the subclass parameter, or sort with the sort parameter or restrinct the returned value applying more conditions on it using other operators

Good luck with the testing!

Changes from RC2:

  • now is in Spanish and Polish
  • the game_settings.xml was riddled errors, so I rewrote it and everything attached to it (including the themeinfo.xml in the theme packs)

After comparing the xml structure between the game_settings.xml and the others, I realized the steps I took to condense the game_settings.xml was only going to end in an unrecognizable mess, which was brought to my attention to me by our great graphics designer and tester CloneD. So now every thing should be fixed.

Changes from RC3:

  • fixed two bad links in the game_settings.xml (thanks XiorgON)
  • reverted back to using 'info' instead of 'str_noitem' in game_settings.xml and themeinfo.xml
  • uses XiorgON's alternate translation of game_settings.xml

As a goodie I created an apppack for switching Coldboots . It as 3 (OFW; Rebug and Rogero) but you can add the ones you want with an GD update (just see the package structure to understand how).

Download: Coldboot AppPack

Just install the pkg (if you have the XMBM+ installer already installed) and run the XMBM+ installer, 3 new options will be there.

Details from the official site: IMPORTANT UPDATE - FOR REBUG 3.55.2 USERS ONLY

Two bugs have been brought to our attention were some users are experiencing either a system crash when exiting any apps or games in NORMAL MODE and/or the updated Rebug Selector will not allow the mode to be changed. Both of these bugs were not experienced in testing so we apologies for any inconvenience.

We have found and fixed the problems and have provided for you a small update that any users of REBUG 3.55.2 should install.

First thing you will notice is the new Rebug Selector 1.6 is using the old 1.2 UI layout. It appears so far that the new menu was what was causing issue for some users. So for now to get things moving along for people we have gone back to the old one.

REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2

REBUG has been updated to 3.41.3 and 3.55.2. For REBUG OtherOS++ and the ability to set QA Token from GameOS please go to the REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 OTHEROS++ post.

  • UPDATED - 3.66 Version Spoofer files
  • UPDATED - Package Manager file path tweaks

  • FEATURE - Lock/Unlock Trophies
  • FEATURE - Cinavia protection disabled
  • FEATURE - Debug for HDD Exchange Utility (Clone your HDD straight to USB HDD, NO QA Token needed)

INSTALL: REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 can be installed over the same or lower version OFW/CFW/MFW on any model PS3 through the XMB or Recovery Mode.

UNINSTALL: REBUG 3.41.3 and 3.55.2 can be uninstalled with the same version OFW/CFW/MFW on any model PS3 through the XMB or Recovery Mode.

PACKAGE MANAGER: Package Manager is a replacement for the standard ★ Install Package Files option under Game in the XMB. It allows for the install and deletion of .pkg files from 'dev_hdd0/packages', 'dev_usb/packages' and the standard '★ Install Package Files' locations. In addition to this, your downloaded PSN content will appear under this menu instead of cluttering your 'Game' menu with uninstalled content.

There is also a directory in dev_flash called rebug which has another directory in it packages. It is in this directory that you will find Rebug_Selector_1.5.pkg and BDEMU.pkg. These can be installed using the PS3 HDD option in Package Manager.

USAGE: Navigate to Game in your XMB and click on ★ Package Manager (It will be where '★ Install Package Files' usually is). You will find three options.

★ PlayStation Network Content - Manage your downloaded PlayStation Network Content.

★ Install Package Files - INSTALL package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

PS3 Hard Disk - (dev_hdd0/packages)
Package Folder - (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location - (Standard ★ Install Package Files locations)

NOTE: The Install All Packages is only available by pressing the TRIANGLE button when the Standard Package Location option is highlighted because the PS3 will only install ALL packages from the root of a storage device as of the moment.

★ Delete Package Files - DELETE package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

PS3 Hard Disk - (dev_hdd0/packages)
Package Folder - (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location - (Standard ★ Install Package Files locations)

1: Highlight the file you would like to delete and press TRIANGLE. The sidebar should appear.
2: Press CROSS on either Unlink or Unlink(Folder) (Both do the same thing for now).

Included - Install using PS3 HDD option in Package Manager.

★Rebug Selector is a tool for switching the XMB and ★Debug Settings menu. When you run the tool you will see displayed what MODE, XMB and DEBUG MENU you are using.

You will also see that AUTO REBOOT is set to OFF, which means when you choose an option from DEBUG MENU SELECT the PS3 will exit back to the XMB automaticly speeding up the menu switching process.

As soon as you choose an option from either MODE SELECT or XMB SELECT the AUTO REBOOT will set to ON and the user must manually exit the tool using the PS button on the controller once they are satisfied with their selections. This is so the VSH changes can take effect.

MODE SELECT: Switches between NORMAL and REBUG mode

NORMAL mode is the default mode after installing Rebug. It uses the DEBUG XMB and allows switching between the two different ★Debug Settings menus.

NOTE: NORMAL mode MUST be set if you wish to reinstall official firmware through the XMB.

REBUG mode sets the PS3 to the latest available version spoof (updatable in the future) and allows swapping between RETAIL and DEBUG XMB in addition to switching between the two different ★Debug Settings menus DEX (debug) and CEX QA (retail).

Press L1+CROSS to set: [NORMAL MODE] or [REBUG MODE]

XMB SELECT: This option only works in REBUG mode and lets you select either the RETAIL or DEBUG XMB.

Press R1+CROSS to use: [RETAIL XMB] or [DEBUG XMB]

DEBUG MENU SELECT: Gives you the choice of the ★Debug Settings menu from CEX (retail) or DEX (debug) firmware.

Press R2+CROSS to use: [MENU 1] (CEX QA) or [MENU 2] (DEX)

CREATE PACKAGE FOLDER ON PS3: For use with Package Manager. This option will exit automaticly if AUTO REBOOT is set to off.

Press SELECT to create [dev_hdd0/packages]

NOTE: No matter what XMB or DEBUG MENU you are using, the debug options you have running will remain active.

EXTRA INFO: Rebug Selector DOES NOT copy any files to dev_flash when performing it's tasks, instead it renames (Much safer and much much faster). All the files are already installed on dev_flash and the tool has more than a dozen checks to make sure nothing goes wrong, including a check to see if it is being used on Rebug firmware. Trying to run Rebug Selector on firmware other than Rebug will cause the tool to auto exit before the user gets to make a choice or see anything on the screen.

It is the EXACT patch_lv1.tcl from minus the lv1 memory mapping and lv1 peek and poke as it is already patched in REBUG.

We can not and will not take any credit for the task file or PS3MFW Builder 0.2 Portable. We have provided them at the bottom of this post for your convenience.

1: Add the patch_lv1_for_rebug.tcl file to the tasks folder of PS3MFW Builder 0.2. It will appear as Patch Lv1 Hypervisor for REBUG in the task list.

3: Press the Configure>> button next to Patch emergency init and select how big to make your GameOS/OtherOS++ partition
4: Use REBUG 3.41.3 or 3.55.2 firmware as your input firmware.
5: Select output directory and filename.
6: Click on Build MFW
7: Rename output PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and install on the PS3.

Once you have your firmware installed go here and download the following files:

  • setup_flash_for_otheros.pkg
  • dtbImage.ps3.bin (For 16MB NOR) or dtbImage.ps3.bin.minimal (For 256MB NAND)
  • install_otheros.pkg
  • boot_otheros.pkg
  • reboot.pkg

Now that you have the necessary tools to begin installing OtherOS++ head over here and READ AND FOLLOW the guide properly, starting at step 2. These guys have put a lot of time into getting this to work so we'll say it again, READ AND FOLLOW the guide.

3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0

3.66 Version Spoofer 2.0 is available for 3.41 and 3.55 firmware and is much faster and safer to use than the previous version spoofers. It works like the ★ Rebug Selector and backs up your current files before activating the spoof, then auto reboots leaving no room for end-user error.

INSTALL: Press L1+CROSS to INSTALL 3.66 Version Spoof files to your PS3

UNINSTALL: Press L1+CIRCLE to UNINSTALL (this will deactivate the spoofer, remove the spoof files from dev_flash and reboot if needed)

~Codename: REBUG Team.

In related news, an anonymous user made available BSPatch Rebug 3.55.2 Pre-Update v0.2 which is an executable BSPatch for Rebug 3.55.2 (REBUG_3.55.2_PS3UPDAT.PUP) with the last Rebug Update Package 0.2 without installing it. The vsh.self was replaced from the Rebug update package v0.2 bug fix and the Rebug_Selector_1.6.pkg has been inserted.

PS3 user mstrthief00 has posted a YouTube video (below) of a Rebug 3.55.2 bug and from the video's caption: Went from 3.55.1 + update 0.1 to 3.55.2, everytime I quit blackbox ftp, coldboot installer or any homebrew, the "Connect the controller using a USB cable, then press the PS button message pop and force to reboot.

Fix - use Rebug Selector switch to Rebug Mode and XMB Retail. Hope its to help for someone with the same issue, sorry for my bad English.

Finally, raxxus and nuck1982 of German site have made available Rebug version 3.55.2 translated into the German language alongside creating a few tasks for PS3MFW Builder.

Download: Rebug 3.55.2 Patched Deutsch (German) (178.52 MB) / Rebug 3.55.2 Tools (German) (6.22 MB)

To quote, roughly translated: I've completely translated rebug 3.55.2 into German, that means all debug entries, package manager, qa-update and the menu entry "app_home/PS3_GAME /" has become "Starte Spiel... (Ohne Disc)". The "Debug Settings" are now just called "Debug".

It is only the resource-files (icons and texts) nothing else. I've also enclosed a nice "write-flash" tool with which you can share resources easily. It only writes in the "dev_flash / vsh / resource"-folder, nowhere else.

Created 2 folder on a USB-Stick, "modz" and "backup". The backup must be created manually by simply save the resource folder under "dev_flash / vsh / resource" somewhere. Copy the original rco files, which you will change, in the backup folder and put the modded files (from the download; without the pkg and the tcl's of course!) into the "modz" folder. The tool ES35 Cutomize explains by itself in the options. Or simply use the latest Multiman and copy the files manually into folders using new flash-write function.

Some debug entries sound better in English and I did not translate some deliberate.. I have made a task for the ps3mfwbuilder on my own. It allows you to patch the official rebug 3.55.2 pup with the update files from 0.4, the privacy patch and the modded rcos.

Simply extract the update pkg 0.4 from rebug, and specify the files from the update_files folder, as well as the modded rcos when creating the pup. Everything else runs automatically.

About the privacy patch: I've intentionally omitted, otherwise some psn games do not run. I'm just a small rebug fan, not more. I've newly patched a Rebug 3.55.2:

  • Debug Settings in German
  • Package Manager in German
  • App / home renamed to start 'Spiel starten (ohne Disk)'
  • Integrated Rebug Update 0.4 Package
  • Suppressed some communication to advertising partners of Sony (Sony is not patched, some PSN would not longer run)
  • Integrated Rebug Selector 1.6
  • TV menu is now called 'Werkzeuge' (due to the creator of the files, because it uses TV as a Homebrew Channel)

Otherwise nothing has changed in the firmware. I have tested the firmware and everything works. The thanks goes to raxxus for the provision of the files and the task for the MFW Builder.
