November 18, 2012 // 7:08 am - Following version 1.3, PlayStation 3 developer HDMadness returns this weekend with PS3 ErmaC 4.30 CFW v1.4 which fixes a bug on some 3D TVs and more as detailed below!

Download: ErmaC 4.30 CFW 1.4.rar / ErmaC 4.30 CFW 1.4.rar (Mirror) / ErmaC 4.30 CFW 1.4.rar (Mirror #2)

Changes from the included Release Notes:

ErmaC 4.30 CFW v1.4

  • More Stable than any other 4.30 CFW out there (Tested with numerous PS3, slim and phat models)
  • Can run games with the latest updates signed with Keys up to 4.30 without any patching needed
  • PSN enabled
  • Cinavia protection disabled
  • No Demo Mode/kiosk fw messages when using you PS3*
  • XMB fully optimized with fast access in-game or not so you can have the best
    performance with your console

Changes since 1.3:

  • Another round of small bug fixes, including the bug that was detected with some 3D TVs
that were not recognized as such when using cfw 4.30
  • A few more cosmetic changes

*If you still want to use PSHome please install 'PSHome_ErmaC_4.30_CFW.pkg' included in the package

#This CFW will not brick your PS3 System or Harddrive if you install it properly. Use it with caution, the author of this CFW will not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused to your system.

You need to be on 3.55 ofw or cfw to install ErmaC CFW. Please downgrade using the proper procedures (999 downgrader from Rebug team is the best option) and after downgrading please install and run 'toggle_qa.pkg' on your PS3 before upgrading again to the new version.

Use exactly the same precautions on upgrading/downgrading used on other CFWs to avoid any complication. Enjoy!

#Thanks to for their continued support.

couple of things. first, yes, i would get at least v4.xx of multiman. second, make sure you make 3-4 NAND/NOR dumps, and verify file sizes (tuck it away on your pc HDD after).

next, this guide should help with qa_toggle and dehashing (recommended)

3rd, from what i've been told, DO NOT have a disc in the system when trying to update the firmware, since it will wanna pul the firmware from the disc first (don't know if it holds true or not though, but better safe than sorry) and last, make sure you install from recovery mode.

I've been using Ermac for a few days now, and everything seems to be running smooth. On a side note, is sony still dropping the ban hammer on people with 4.30CFW?

oh, i almost forgot. to make a NAND/NOR backup, go to mmOS, select any file, then hit (start? whatever it is for the hex viewer, it says at the bottom), select no twice, and then yes to backup FLASH.

haven't messed with cfw for some time. just updated from kmeaw 3.55 to ermac 4.30 1.4. did qa toggle to recovery to update. it seems nothing will boot exept multiman. also ps3 freezes when loading a game or returning to xmb. not sure if i updated wrong or something else is up.

so, everything seems to be working fine for me, except for some reason, games will not stay in category view. any time i play a game, enter/exit multiman etc it resets to the default view

1. Yes, it's worth the upgrade if you don't want to manually patch EBOOTs for newer releases to work.
2. The QA features include enhanced debugging that can be helpful if you run into f/w issues.
3. If you brick your PS3, a NAND/NOR (depending on your console) backup (can be done in MultiMan) will allow you the ability to bring it back to life.
