February 18, 2012 // 5:05 am - Here is my first PS3 4.10 CFW (Custom Firmware) / MFW (Modified Firmware) which includes the Install Package Files option in the PlayStation 3 XMB for those interested.

Download: PS3 4.10 CFW / MFW with Install Package Files by TechnoDon ( Warning: Read Notes below before installing!)

For those curious, this PS3 CFW / MFW is a modified 4.10 Kiosk / Shop Firmware via PS3MFW Builder intended for installation on PS3 3.55 Retail consoles.

1. Custom Coldboot
2. Kiosk/Shop XMB restrictions have been removed so PlayStation Home/PlayStation Store work fine.
3. Modified to allow installation of retail signed packages

Notes: DO NOT install this unless you have an E3 flasher or Progskeet type device to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55. Unfortunately 3.55 signed PS3 homebrew does not install/run. Also be aware it doesn't load any PlayStation 3 game backups so you will need to have the game disc to play them.

To Unlock the XMB: Hold L1+R1+Select+Square simultaneously. When the security settings icon is selected. It will ask for you to input a code (four digit code). Enter 2464.

PS: PS3Hen if you would like to add XMB Manager that would be great

its not actually been tested on 3.56+ but i doubt that it would install anyway. not sure but i think PS3MFW builder packs pups signed with 3.55 keys.

i'll give it a test cause i'm going to install hens version with the XMB manager but i'm pretty sure that they will ask to renew the playstation store license but then again its kiosk/store firmware so who knows?

hen i tested your version of the hybrid firmware after i unlock the menu then go to the game category the console reboots and asks to press ps button or re-install firmware..

has anyone actually tested this? does it have the install package file options in the game category cause i think that i might have released the wrong version. anyway, i'm going to make version 2 that will enable game update downloads hopefully.

Since this can install retail signed packages would PSN games like the one below install and work correctly without the fix? Also thanks for all your hard work technodon, even though many don't find this as useful.

its not dangerous, like i said before in a previous post if you wanted to try and install this without a flasher. when there is a new kiosk firmware update it would be better to wait for me to release a new pup that will take your console from kiosk back to retail firmware. if your on 3.55 withought a flasher you shouldnt be updating or testing any hybrid firmwares anyway!

this firmware is dangerous, it converts a retail ps3 into a kiosk with no software method of downgrade or even upgrade to ofw if you use this without a hardware flasher you will eventually have a system without homebrew backups or psn.

if you want install packages on 4.0+ so bad use ps3hen's hfw 4.10 and that psn bypass tool or wait for him to make 4.11 hfw.

i saw the task but i didn't disable cinavia in this version. i don't really know exactly what it does, i know it has something to do with video playback but i've never had a problem. so if you could enlighten me that would be great. i might release version 2 if i decide to continue with this project. because at the moment kiosk firmware doesn't seem to download game update data which is needed really.

the main goal for this is to have kiosk firmware more like retail then that way we would always have install package file options everythie a new update is forced on us.

Its easy to mix files from debug/retail/kiosk Firmware and anyone can do it using mfw builder but really the only important file actually modified from its original Sony version is the coldboot/cosmetic things, so no important FW file is really customised/modified as such, just swapped with different versions.

I assume this 4.10 FW has the cinavia disabled by swapping the files from debug FW related to video playback? This is the best feature of these new HFW's IMO.

I was the one who mentioned this neat hack to ps3hen for his 4.00HFW after i seen the tcl task file for it.

its good to see progress but i read that and my heart stopped, then i read on. the best we can hope for at mo is being able to run the scraps that trueblue throw us and the odd homebrew app if this allowed original game discs AND homebrew it would be great.

you're right. But for us, customized must be done on the way that PS3 that the certain feature/s doesn't have at all, now have in a CFW.

In this case, this thing just add some thing, it's just the feature thing that combines certain features on a debug console, thus we call it hybrid, if we combine it into the retail firmware. There's are some modification in here, just like the coldbooot, no features added, they just changed the image (ctrl+c power) with another one.
