January 19, 2014 // 9:04 pm - Following up on his previous revision and PS2 Games on Non-BC PS3 Consoles update, today PlayStation 3 developer Habib has updated his PS3 Custom Firmware to Habib Cobra 4.53 V1.05 CEX Edition CFW followed by v1.05a with the changes detailed below.

1. PS2 for semi-bc PS3 working as per user by using this method:

1 - Start PS3 with the controller via usb.
2 - Launch PS2 ISO.
3 - The game starts and the controller loses the sync but i'm able to resync it, although its been said its buggy and sometimes games launch and sometime not.

NOTE: ps2 will have controller synch if used modded emu (see below)

CORE: In this CFW I have by default added original ps2_emus for ps3 so that if you are disturbed with controller sync problem,you can use original emu for ps2. To enable/disable modded ps2 emu,use ps2 flag i've created.

Put a 0 byte file named "ps2" in usb/core_flags/ then put the usb in the rightest port of ps3 and turn ps3 on,if everything goes right, the ps3 should restart and flag ps2 will rename to _ps2 if ps2 emu for bc or semi-bc console doesn't work or you see them buggy, use ps2 flag and swap back to original emu...

PRX loading at startup, iso mounting, ntfs support are working.

NOTE:

1. if you have installed bad plugin etc,pls change fw from cobra(from recovery ofcourse) to different as cobra safe_mode isnt working properly on 4.53

WARNING: DONT TRY TO SPOOF FW VERSION!! All the other patches of a cfw is included.

TO OTHER DEVS: stage0 base needs updating and stage1 flash_mount_446.S. flash mount uses ppc 64 bit instructions found in lv2_kernel and in lv2_dump, if you do not do this or the system cant allocate stage2 then it will kick you in recovery mode

TO PREVENT COPY-CATERS: signatures on offset 10108 of lv0.elf

THIS COBRA PORT IS DONE FIRST TIME BY ME, SO I MAY PROVIDE UPDATES OVER TIME...

Update: There is an issue causing some Cobra Feature to not work properly, best advised to stay on v1.04 until the issue has been sorted.

You need to use my plugin and edit boot_plugins.txt adding this line: /dev_hdd0/habibplugin.sprx put the sprx in dev_hdd0/

SIGNS OF CORE: 3 beeps or reboot=SUCCEED! once you hear 3 beeps, reboot PS3...

Update #2: Guys you won't need that habibplugin on my latest cfw 4.53 v1.05a by using this: ps2_netemu.self

Controller synch won't appear on classics BUT will give you controller synch prob in iso... it wasn't thoroughly tested, i'm just posting it, at a glance, it was all good and yeah its for non-bc ps3 only... as cobra files is same on steven one too, you can use it.

IS it possible to update from a Demonstration Version 4.50 to this one ?

I tried in safe mode and it is saying corrupted file... and a error code. Also i know the code for the Demonstration Version.

Only if you have the System Update setting to Automatically ON

Main features in system software update version 4.50
You can now set the group of players who can see your trophies. You can also specify for each game whether to show trophies.

- Download the latest system software

Uhm... Sony implemented automatic firmware updates from this version on, don't forget this ! If not patched and you are connected they can update your CFW to OFW whenever they want.

Well that didn't take too long, although afraid to really get out of my comfort zone of Rogero at the moment, maybe when I hear some more feedback or if multiman supports it.
