February 8, 2013 // 8:59 pm - Following up on the previous rumor of Sony's PlayStation 4 costing around $400, today VGLeaks (linked above) has shared some details on the PS4 / Orbis Dual Camera functionality from a recent patent uncovered.

Below is the scoop, to quote: "When we unveiled Orbis, an enigmatic device called "Dual Camera" was also listed within the info.

  • "Dual Camera" appears to be an evolutioned HD Eyetoy instead of a Kinect device, based on the features offered right now.
  • It contains a pair of wide-angle cameras. Each camera offers a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p).
  • Sound is processed by a 4 microphone array working at 48 Khz.

The device can perform some non gaming tasks such as:

  • Recognize the user and log in the system
  • Video chat

In the gaming field it supports head and hand tracking as new game inputs. Currently it's not clear if this device will support body tracking in the future as Kinect but it's almost sure that it will be bundled with every Orbis system."

According to a recently uncovered Sony patent, it appears they are planning to implement a new form of interactive advertising in their next-generation PS4 / PlayStation 4 gaming console.

Below are the details from (linked above), to quote: "SCEA is going next gen even with advertisements. Discovered just before PS4's imminent announcement, this new Sony patent shows new motion tech which allows you to interact with the advertisement.

This new form of marketing allows users to speed up the time of the ad by collaborating with it to complete virtual food orders; think Burger King.

The patent also seem to have a ton of social inter-connectivity as rumored that PS4 would sport large amounts of integration with the social networking universe. Check it out for yourself."

Every indication I've seen - including the value of the parts they're using - puts the PS4 at cheaper than these predictions. If it's more than $400 in America I will be greatly suprised.

The price will be highter Only Sony's phone will be able to control the PS4. It will be a flop, people don't have money to waste in this shit while PS3 is perfectly fine.

They talk to add "cloud gaming" on PS4 like it requires a new hardware to work. ID DOESN'T. They will probably force you to always connect ps4 to internet as anti piracy measure
They still insist that PS2 games are not compatible with PS3 hardware, Flatz ( has developed a way to play all PS2 games on non-BC console.
