355w ago - Numerous amounts of gamers are reportedly requesting to Sony that they release the new PS3 firmware ASAP as v2.42 is causing them loads of issues. The reported issues range from no discs being read to problems of going online.

To quote: Personally our PS3 is just fine but then we have not had much time with it since the latest firmware. This is what some gamers have reported to PR:

Well this is totally Effed Up!!! My son decided that it would be a good idea to update the PS3 and he did 2 nights ago without me knowing it. Well now ANYTHING BLURAY does NOT play. NOTHING!!! Doesn't even recognize the DAMN Disc!!! Is there anything I can do???

Installed this newest update and now nothing works, can not read disks at all. We have done the system restore, etc. now have to wait while it gets shipped to Sony to fix it.

Very upsetting, fairly new PS3 (5 months) in excellent condition and was working perfectly prior to update. Extremely frustrating.

Sony Bring on v2.43 Firmware quickly as 2.42 is all Messed Up

mine works perfectly... maybe sony is putting out a new fw because of some bugs in it.

But for a machine going from an old firmware (1.80, for example) up to 2.42.. that's when I'd expect BD firmware to be flashed with a new version. Which could potentially break.

well i updated from 2.30 to 2.35 and then got blue ray probs..

i think every update contains full firmware so you can update from 1.50 to 2.35 without a prob. it would be nice if sony could let user choose whether update all the files in file system or just replace the old packages like they are doing now XD

You dont seem to get the point, at least my fear is that even though the firmware upgrades arent that buggy its the way they are installing thats killing some BD.

And what sucks the most is I use my ps3 mostly online so I need to install the firmware upgrades or else I cant play. I sure can wait 4 days after the firmware upgrade is released but anyway my ps3 can get killed and why will I have to wait 4 days to play MY PS3 and MY ORIGINAL GAMES. Fix your stuff Sony!

This was the reason I sold my 360, because RROD, I bought a PS3 thinking I wouldnt have this problems, at least the rate is not as high but seems like a gamble to me.

Well as soon as psxboy gets restocked with the laser they used in the 20gb, 60gb, and 80gb models then I will order and let you know what happens after I install it.
