February 16, 2011 // 11:33 am - Update: As expected, countless users in our PS3 Forums have confirmed receiving e-mail notices from Sony followed by their PlayStation 3 consoles being banned.

According to Mathieulh if you get error 0x8002A227 Sony banned your PS3 from the PSN.

Today Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has posted the following statement from Sony Computer Entertainment on PS3 circumvention devices, piracy and PSN bans:

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software.

Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.

Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws.

Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.

To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.

What this means to you:

Circumvention devices and game piracy damage our industry and can potentially injure the online experience for you, our loyal PlayStation customers, via hacks and cheats.

Many PlayStation.Blog readers have asked how we intend to deal with these incidents that they have been reading about in the gaming press, and this is our initial response.

By identifying PlayStation 3 systems that breach our guidelines and terminating their ability to connect to PlayStation Network, we are protecting our business and preserving the honest gameplay experiences that you expect and deserve.

Rest assured, this message does not apply to the overwhelming majority of our users who enjoy the world of entertainment PlayStation 3 has to offer without breaching the guidelines detailed above, and we urge you to continue doing so without fear.

well when you decide to hop online plz let us know what happens... at this point i've spent too much time on the web and it does seem like a lot of speculation... When a dev releases news about what has happened then i'll chime back in

It's quite an ironic thing too, the app that one uses is cussing out PSN. That to me, would imply that you don't give a damn about PSN. Quite a tasteless name indeed. I also feel it's thanks to that, that this kinda got out of hand again. Way too many people jumping on board once this got easy.

It was better when fewer people knew and it was tougher to configure properly in the first place.

Ah well, in the long run we all knew it wouldn't end well. I'd just like to know if your account gets 'flagged' to where you can't use it on another PS3 console as some people seem to put it. Then there are people saying you can log on PSN. Others saying they've been banned, while others say there aren't any bans.. yet.

Too much rumors going on right now, going to wait till things settle down a bit longer.

I've easily spent more than $200 and I still got the e-mail. Not going to try and hop online yet (even on my OFW PS3).

i think what's saving me individually is that I have purchased alot of things from psn... I guess their really calculating the cost it would have to their business before they ban accounts that have made plenty of store purchases.

I agree, fckPSN was a terrible choice for a name. AutoProxy would have been alright but no... they just had to encroach Sony.

I just did yesterday and i havent sign in since i read this news and not yet receive any email. Should i pull the plug ethernet then format the HDD to OFW then start over again. this sucks!

I think that maybe they are trying to scare people who's using CFW to get off PSN. Maybe the reason for this is cause they can't block this method with fckPSN, so they are sending warning e-mails to all users who signed on PSN recentlly. Maybe their logic is that they will detect people who stopped login on PSN after they sent a warning e-mail.

I personally didn't log on to PSN for couple of months and didn't get warning, I bet if I would log on now I would get it no matter if I have legit 3.56fw or custom one. And you all know that people from Sony can make accounts on random forums all over sayin they got banned.

i have yet to receive any emails and im in the u.s. Then again some people claim theyve gotten the emails and have never jb their consoles either through usb dongle or cfw... I've been on psn using a proxy method and have had cfw homebrewapps backup manager and backed up games running it on it.

I'm really guessing the fckpsn method or (charles) is not full proof and has even gotten legit users warned or banned...

Stupid POS Sony website won't even let me sign in at all but last time I tried PSN (about 2 hours after getting the email, i signed in and then turned off the PS3... if i didn't have to reboot my MacBook to get to Windows, i'd see if I was able to get online now. The iPhone myPSN app won't let me sign in either, it just loads indefinitely... and the website just refreshes with the "Sign up/Sign In" instead of my log in info.

A part of me tells me to to just say F-Sony and keep using PSN until I get banned, and another part of me tells me to keep my PS3 offline, play games using back up manager and when TONS of PS3 end up getting banned, I can sell my PS3 for a little extra since its not banned and if the new purchaser wants to keep CFW, they can or go back to OFW and play online or they can take the risk themselves.
