March 29, 2009 // 3:49 pm - After some time off since his previous release, this weekend Spanish PS3 developer Ifcaro has released two new non-final PS3 USBLD Loader test versions.

They appear to add both increased compatibility and a language/driver file folder (namely, x:/USBLD) as follows:

Download: USB LOADER v0.3 RC1 / USB LOADER v0.3 RC1+MODHOOK / SPANISH LANGUAGE ARCHIVE (Put in folder X: USBLD USBLDLNG.TXT where X is the letter of the usb disk and the setup screen select Import language file. Same thing with X: USBLD USBD . IRX driver for usb)

Rough translation: ATTENTION: This is NOT the final version. It is only a test version and find bugs etc.

The theme ps2load not finished because I realized that uses images ioprp well protected and is not it out XD. So if you test if the games run without requiring ps2load in this version in case.

I leave with you two versions one with and one without modhook, tell if something's modhook improved compatibility (or the worse) or if it does delete.

Can someone explain to me, why is that almost everywhere i see it says that it wont work on PS3 with software emulation but my PAL 60 Gb that is Software Emulation, works fine?

I just checked on Wikipedia and all PAL PS3's are Software Emulation only. So basically it should work on NTSC Software Emulation consoles too?

Another question, is there a list of external HDD's that work?
And if load speed will be faster then from USB?

I use the most expensive and fastest Sandisk USB, Cruzer Contour and formatted with 64KB blocks to speed up it even more, still FF XII (with compatibility hack) movies are sluggish.

Something to help us all:
This version of USBUtil 2.0 Full up-to-date DNAS/IOPRP
comes with the package to v2.1 and PS2Load Injector.

Have a good time.

It does work with some usb hdds formatted to FAT32. It all depends if it's compatible.

dose this work with a formatted usb hard drive or is it still for usb flash sticks?

I've wondered about that myself. I've been meaning to pick up another hdd so I could try it but I realized something. How to get the partition in FAT format? Unless there's a way to do it that I don't know about, I think someone would have to code an otheros.bld with that option.

I've heard that the game-os can't access the otheros partition so it probably wouldn't work but since it's never been tried...

umm.. I don't if you can say it's using the hardware because I'm not sure if the ps3 has a physical IOP processor inside. Either way, if its not using the actual hardware, its emulating the hardware and the coding is done for that system, the ps2. It might or might not be possible for the ps3 to have usb 2.0 in ps2mode BUT noone has coded those usbdrivers yet.

Usbloader is usbadvance. Alot of the ps2 usb drivers(usbd.irx) don't work on the ps3, so although usbadvance boots up on the ps3, it doesn't recognize any usb devices. usbloader boots up usbadvance with working ps2 usbdrivers.

The ps3s that have software emulation have more disadvantages than advantages. the first version of usbloader didn't even work on the ps3s with no EE chip. you also can't boot .elfs off of the vmc.

@ziddiri
Noone has gotten Shadow of the Colossus or God of War series to work. So unless a new version of Usbloader with improved compatibilty pops up, those games are a no-go.

@crazelunatic.
Hi and welcome to the forums.
Ya, it's just an elf file using a built in usb 1.1 driver (usbd.irx). you can use an external usbd.irx but that's so you can improve compatabilty with usb devices. there are no 2.0 usb drivers and from what I have read, the chances of us getting usb 2.0 in ps2mode ae very slim. the processor that handles the usbd.irx is the IOP and that doesn't have enough power or bandwidth for usb 2.0

so unless some coder discovers a clever workaround, it's not going to happen. since the source code was released for usbloader, I think the best we could hope for would be better game compatibilty.
