November 24, 2011 // 7:56 pm - Previously we reported on a leaked document revealing PS3-Vita connectivity followed by some PS Vita PS3 Remote Play demo videos from TGS 2011, and today Eurogamer (linked above) reports that a PS3 Firmware update will enable PlayStation Vita Remote Play on all games.

To quote: "A future PlayStation 3 Firmware update will enable Vita Remote Play on all games, Eurogamer has learnt. However, this will be only at the PlayStation Portable 480x272 resolution, which will be upscaled to fill the screen.

For future games, developers will be able to include Vita specific 480p modes, Eurogamer understands. Vita's OLED display is actually capable of displaying games at 960x544 pixel resolution.

Vita Remote Play is how Sony's new handheld interacts with the PS3.

In a Tokyo Game Show demonstration Sony's Shuhei Yoshida played a brief section of Killzone 3 streamed into the device from a PlayStation 3 unit, noting how a few of the Dual Shock buttons missing on the Vita are mapped to the touchscreen.

Vita can also be used in co-operative play with PS3 games. While a colleague played through a specially constructed LittleBigPlanet 2 level with a Dual Shock controller, Yoshida controlled an aeroplane via the Vita's touch screen, helping Sackboy reach his goal by altering the environment.

Sony declined to comment when contacted by Eurogamer."

Finally, below is a video demonstrating the PlayStation Vita user interface.

LOL. GH mentioned that he would go for Sony's Xperia Play when it was released but then Sony got involved.

But yeah I'm hoping for the same thing. It might not be likely but I still want to get one early so if there isn't a universal downgrader ready yet, I'll still be at early firmware so I'll be fine

I hope the Vita gets hacked in the first month. That would be awesome but I doubt it. Well it probably will but I doubt the devs who do it will release it as they will probably be the PS3 devs doing it and they are pricks.

Oh, I can see the future. 1 week after the Vita is released there is a tweet from Math "I've hacked the Vita and it can play backups but I'm not releasing it"

Would be interesting if the PS Vita led to a jailbreak for the PS3. Sony would have to be in a frenzy lol. You never know

This is another reason to jailbreak your PS3 and install CFW as you can tell ALL your games to run via remote play and they do. Yea, you miss out on a few buttons and a 2nd analog stick but for some games it doesn't matter and they are very playable.

This is 1 reason why I don't understand why Sony do what they do? All games can be remote played on the PSP so why won't they enable it on the Vita?

Its just like everything these days. The big companies bring out devices then hold them back from their full potential. Not sure why. PSP can play PS3 game via remote play, the iPhones can use Siri but only the iPhone 4S is allowed, iPad 3G can send and receive SMS/MMS but Apple refuse to let it. No wonder people jailbreak their devices to use them the way they should be used.

Pshhh, yeah right. They paid a guy to say he misconstrued the facts, because $ony just can't deliver anything they promise. Either that, or they'll steal it back from you.

So when Sony upgrade the model to a slim it not only gets slimmer it gets built cheaper and the quality is also cheaper. But usually the price is the same.

That's how they make money. They hype you in to the console then drop features and quality then sell it at the same price with an inferior device.

That is certainly the case in my experience. I got a slim when I found out the fats couldn't do Skype and was shocked at the difference in build quality. When playing ssx on tour the fat would stutter sometimes but the higher ram of the slim would not.
