244w ago - A few days ago the PS3 Firmware 3.50 update was released, and since then many users have reported that their PlayStation 3 controller third-party USB adapters no longer function.

To quote from VG247.com (linked above): "According to a consumer alert posted by Sony on September 21, the same day the newest firmware update went live:

"SCEA does not support continued functionality of counterfeit or unlicensed controllers in system software updates and these devices may cease to function in the future because of system software updates.

SCE and its affiliated companies disclaim all liability for any loss or damage suffered by you or any third party through the use of counterfeit or unlicensed products."

There's been no official response from Sony just yet, but we'll send a mail and see if it's working on the issue or if it has a response."

When you say it recognises your ps3 jailbreak dongle, do you mean the jailbreak is activated and running?

please make a video showing that your dongle works on 3.50, it could help the devs to find a solution for the update problem.

thanks

Doesn't matter, the want you to keep spending money. By doing this USB disable, they make sure you buy only controllers that make them money. Sucks but not all that shocking considering they had the balls to take away PS2 compatibility.

Is true that psjailbreak got some key to bypass the blacklisting of their devices?

I came by to see if there was any more information on the class action against Sony for their update that broke the Linux distros, and now see this!

Are they trying to drive everyone to M$ or something?

exactly, this cannot be accomplished through software. I've explained this before (not sure if this thread or not). The ID that the PS3 sees is embedded into the actual hardware board. Each board had a unique ID (each model not the actual individual board). You would only be able to emulate this if one you could somehow sadder the board to fool the system into thinking its what is authorized.

I'm thinking if anything the hack using the Sixaxis controller might work but to get the hack working you have to mod the controller board thus changing the ID so it would be hard.

this is just what i know because its what i do im a computer technician, however i will admit i dont know everything so there still is hope.
