March 12, 2008 // 9:18 pm - How do you feel about the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV not receiving the downloadable content that the Xbox 360 will be receiving?

Microsoft previously mentioned the two downloadable episodic content they payed Rockstar $50 million to receive will equal the size of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas.

A recent preview in the latest issue (April 2008) of PlayStation:

The Official Magazine stated that Rockstar's Jeronimo Barrera said the PlayStation 3 will most likely receive it's own form of downloadable content as well. However, a new Take-Two release states that the Xbox 360 will be receiving it's downloadable content in 2008, and they plan on issuing more content for (most likely) both consoles in 2009. That means the PlayStation 3 will never see those San Andreas and Vice City sized pieces of episodic content.

If you would like to know how I feel, I'll tell you. I'm not just a blogger, I'm a proud PlayStation 3 owner as well, and will be picking up Grand Theft Auto IV for PlayStation 3 no matter what. Seeing as how San Andreas and Vice City went to Xbox, I see that it's only right Rockstar does the same with these two new pieces of episodic content (possibly Bully as well). So I guess as we near the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, you can take it that I'm pretty upset.

Too bad this isn't Russia back in World War I, where we can just threaten to revolt if the government (meaning Rockstar) doesn't listen to the people (meaning PlayStation 3 owners). How do you feel about this? Go ahead, tell it all.

Nobody knows what the content is going to be yet so its hard to be bothered by it. My 360 is banned so i wont be getting it either way.

If you ask me microsoft is not taking full advantage of the situation, 'Exclusive episodid content' they keep on talking about doesnt mean anything to the average consumer they need to actualy show somthing. Most people wouldnt even know about the $50mil MS loaned to rockstar so to them it might mean just some extra clothes for your character or something.

I really think that they will launch exclusive PS3 contens so this doesn't affect me.

Well I have both, so this doesn't affect me as much, but yes, it is rather unfair. Perhaps GTA will release them as disks, or the Xbox patches will be hacked and modded by someone to fit PS3's standards.

yeah it sux, but think bout this; with the flood of people powering up there xbox's to play gta, there will be a huge flood of people getting RROD'd. LMAO! Microsoft wont be able to handle (much less the consumer) this quickly at all. People will then be forced to go to the darkside because of better overall quality and overall cost-you get what you pay for. im not expecting much out of these two episodes-size of gta sa and vc? maybe data content, but overall scope will probly be tiny in comparison.

I'm looking forwarad to the release of GTA anyway, but it's pretty unfair that the content is only released for the Xbox :-(
