March 9, 2011 // 10:11 pm - As previously reported, Sony has now put their PS3 Firmware 3.60 system software update live.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can now backup their save files via Cloud online storage, which allows users to store up to 150MB of save data or 1,000 save files (whichever comes first).

The PS3 Firmware 3.60 update also allows users to select a timer for their PlayStation 3 controllers through the addition of a new menu option to set the amount of time before the PS3 controller powers off due to inactivity.

According to PS3 hacker KaKaRoToKS, Sony removed all the loaders in the PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.60 update as well. Below are some relevant Tweets, as follows:

Wow, in 3.60, Sony removed all the loaders, no more isoldr/lv1ldr/lv2ldr/appldr.. but they added lv0.2! Seems they found a way to secure PS3.

We already have the metldr key, the thing is that they don't use metldr anymore, at all!

They can't update or remove it, but very surprisingly, they just bypassed it, it's there but unused..

Humm, looks like lv0.2 is just the SCE header of lv0, just like the spkg, it doesn't contain code in itself... just resigned with securely..

LV0.2 is just the new metadata for lv0 (one encrypted and signed using new bootloader keys (for future consoles)

Nope, no sarcasm.. of course, nothing is secure, but the flaws they had before seem to all be fixed. at least at first glance..

For now, it looks to me (at first glance) that the ps3 has been resecured, but it doesn't mean it can't be broken again from scratch..

btw, just thought about something.. metldr could still be used, but the ldrs are inside lv0 instead of being in separate files, that's all..

Sony’s 3 step solution: 1 – secure firmware update (3.56), 2 – secure firmware decryption (3.60), 3 – secure psn: change psn protocol (3.6x)

In about 5 - 7 days Sony will update the PSN side of the login authentication (as always) and then you'll laughing no more ... But it doesn't really matter as both your PSN account(s) and PS3(s) itself will be banned soon too. So - enjoy it while you can

Yeah install PS3ITA which is a 3.55 cfw. It is basically kmeaw's with PSN access. No need for 3.41 or Charles or FckPSN.

i just wondering... as far as came out fw 3.60 i went to the pc and reconfigured charles to replace the value of the x-platform-version header parameter with 3.60. then i tried to login into psn but it didnt work. so i switched back to 3.56 rewriting and it worked.

someone any idea. i'm on 3.41.

The 3.60 spoofer gives you PSN access as well as PS3ITA CFW. Me personally I am on PS3ITA and PSN works perfect. $ony can finally give up now because it seems they have been outsmarted again. LOL

The HDD is tied to the PS3, you can't put it in another without formatting it.

Correct me if I`m wrong but YLOD has nothing to do with your hdd, in my opinion the only thing you would have to do when you have an YLOD is either buy a new system and put your old HDD in maybe flash to CFW or just repair the YLOD and you would have your old system back isn`t it?? YLOD just affects your CPU and/or GPU not your hdd as I remember it...

So, i guess the major question is... does PSN still work after this update? Can i play online at least using CFW kmeaw 3.55 with fckpsn 0.6?

wonder if we will ever get a worthwhile firmware update anytime soon, with features we don't already have. now that the firmware is "re-secured" they have no excuse to release b.s. security updates.
