February 6, 2007 - Developer Icon Games announced it was working on an arcade-style racer called Spinout for the PSP and PlayStation 2 back in July 2005. But the game has been laying low since then. Today, publisher Ghostlight reminded us of the game's existence and announced it will be releasing Spinout in the UK on March 30.
Racers will progress through four race classes, starting as a novice in the Explorer class and working towards the gravity-defying Angel Class. The vehicles (Xorbs) are fully customizable with over two million bodywork profile combinations and performance upgrades. Win big and earn cash to unlock bonus content. Wi-Fi multiplayer is available to share trach times and compete with up to four players.
"Spinout has received rave reviews from specialist game press, liking it to the spills and thrills of Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball," said Sam Collins, Sales Manager at Ghostlight.
No word, yet, on a US release, or if the PlayStation 2 version is still in the works.
