Cool Official PSP 3.03 OE-B And Compatibility thread!

    Sponsored Links
Dark_AleX has now shared with us 3.03 OE-B For PSP for those who don't mind flashing Custom Firmware!

    Changes in OE:

    - Patched the Firmware to allow decrypted mp4-AVC videos to play at 480x272 resolution.
    - pic0.png was not shown in PSP iSOs. Fixed.
    - The speed functions were not dummied after setting the speed. This could cause the few games that set the CPU speed not to run at the selected speed in the recovery menu.
    - Changed the structure of the program to have more free RAM in game mode.
    sysmemp.prx removed, systemctrl.prx splitted into systemctrl.prx and vshctrl.prx.

Note: due to the inclusion of pic0.png, the iSO cache has changed slightly; as a consequence you will notice a slowdown the first time you access game menu after this update, just as if you have modified the iSO folder.

    Changes in docmaker:

    - A flag that lets increase the limit of 100 png's to 1000 was found. (this is the real maximum number of images that support the emulator document.dat reader). The document.dat's created with this version, can have any number of images between 1 and 1000, and they will work in whatever 3.03 OE version.

    Instructions:

    - Just copy the files/directories inside MS_ROOT to the root of your PSP.

For more information regarding mp4-avc at 480x272 read the readme.

Unhappy In search of a downgrader

I'm new to the homebrew arena and have been doing my research on how to downgrade to version 1.5 so that I can try Dark_Alex's firmware. However, I have foolishly upgraded to [at least] ver. 3.02 (again, I'm new here). So I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to downgrade from this version. I've only seen help for those who have fw 2.71 or lower.

    Arrow

There is no downgrader yet for 3.xx Firmware, so all you can do is wait at this time.

It varies... search for the PSP Firmware Box identification thread for more info on the pics and box codes. This is really getting off-topic for the OE-B thread now...

Very interesting progress, thanks Dark_Alex. It would be nice to increase the supported resolution up to full ntsc. Why? Because Retail-UMD-Videos are encodet at this resolution, so it could work. Sure, it doesn't make sense if you want to watch your videos only on psp, but it could make it possible to use only one encode for psp and other devices like a player/streaming-client hooked up to your tv.

BTW, UMDVideo-codefree is still not working.
