Wouldn't this change your MAC address?
Wouldn't this change your MAC address?
like the way the mac changes when you connect via wireless or ethernet? No that won't change your MAC, even if it did it wont install and even if you did manage to install it and change your MAC it won't help with a ban or ridiculous stealthing or any other nonsense to help you connect to PSN without being detected.
Stay off PSN and you won't have to worry about it. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
I can't see there ever being a way to change/spoof/ replace anything to do with the Mac/Sn of a PS3 and get it un banned from the PSN.
It would be nice to be able change hardware address on the PS3, like we can do on say a Docsis unit, and make it mascaraed like another PS3 unit, and get back on the network, but its not going to happen as we have no Jtag to flash the mem blocks that the Mac setting reside at yet?
The thing is the PS3 is paired with its hardware just like the card in your digibox, there paired together, so if you change the card yourself it will not work, just like the PS3, you change an address on the hardware, it is no longer paired, and will not work. Usb-Ethernet X-net adapters or usb-wireless say, will not give you any advantage, because like Barry said it won't install.
One thing to do, is change the settings in your router ip clone settings if you have it in your router, to a new address, like changing your C class to 00 or something.
Like 00:0a:bd:3a:aa > 00:0a:00:3a:aa then reset everything and now your have a new IP address, all clean again. sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs. Others may not know this.
sorry forgot to say. block port 1900 as thats the port media servers on your network use, to say Hi im here, please talk to me. lol

I wouldn't even bother, the pushlists everyone seems to be afraid of don't contain any uniquely identifiable information. If sony decides to ban users it'll be through the PSN login procedure (and wont be based on IP or MAC but consoleID) but at the moment they have no need to because they are well aware they can just shut us out from PSN (especially with their newly added procedure in 3.56).
Changing those pushlists or making them read only or "stealthing" stuff is about as effective as covering your PS3 in jam for keeping it safe online.
As we've seen time and time again in recent months sony love whitelists and i'd be 80% sure they keep a large list of consoleID's which are allowed on the PSN so all they have to do is flag yours.
Using a whitelist instead of a blacklist is much more effective as the consoleID can then be generated at random with no mathmatical relationship from one to the next ensuring there'll never be a keygen.
