[Answered] PS3 trying to update help?

    Sponsored Links
My cousin brought his ps3 over and a few games like madden 12 and my oldest nephew decided to put it in our ps3 and started updating it for whatever reason, and I got called after he started it and I told him to unplug the ps3 or something and now when I turn it on, it tries to continue the update. Is there anything I can do?

I can take a look at it if you would like just let me know.

All slim ps3s are nor, try and upgrade and then I could transfer data to one of my ps3s and then downgrade yours. After the downgrade I could then transfer data back. Thanks and let me know.

put the console into recovery mode. goto system update and hopefully it should still say firmware 3.55, try reintalling 3.55 again. if you get corrupt data. either use a different hard drive or your gonna have to format it

doesn't seem like i'm able to access the recovery mode

    are these the right instructions?

    1. Turn off PlayStation 3.

    2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.

    3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps

    4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

    5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button

    6. The Recovery menu will pop up

yeah you have the procedure right. Try unplugging it for 30 minutes and then try again, with your 3.55 update on a USB drive.

    That is awful...

It probably depends how far on the update did they get to....
As you still have to accept the terms etc etc, and if they went through the lot until it started installing, you might be outta luck...

If its a phat you could try wiping the HDD and then reinstalling 3.55...

i'd send a pm to barrybarry k and ask him. he was one of the goto guys for me in any trouble situation. haven't seen him for ages but its worth a try. if you have a spare hdd try that 1st instead of erasing urs too.

That sucks , I don't really have anything to suggest. But for other users on 3.55 CFW, block the playstation website on your router so you can't connect to PSN and update.
