    how can i replace a PS3 Laser Diode. have anyone did this before ??

    please help if you know. i know how to install it but do i have to do anything special to it ?

    i am taking about replacing the laser diode not the laser replacement.

    The diode is part of the laser, so it may be covered in them... not sure though as I didn't sit and watch them all.

    It is much easier to replace the laser assembly, one static discharge and the diode is dead, plus they have to be fit correctly. When assembled in the factory they are set in a jig to ensure proper placement. Doing this by hand would be almost impossible.
