    [Answered] CINAVIA Removal help?

    Sponsored Links
Is there not a way to remove cinavia protection from the ps3 completely?
Best Answer - Posted by barrybarryk:

no, the PS3 isn't protected by CINAVIA, the media is. The PS3 merely supports it if you were to remove it completely it wouldn't play any CINAVIA protected media.

Stop using it, convert your media to open formats instead of looking for work arounds for proprietary protections.

But older Firmwares did not suffer from Cinavia crippling so there is a way to have a PS3 without this POS in it. So why would it not be possible to remove it from the current FWs.

Do the older FWs < 3.10 not play Cinavia media?

why use media with it in the first place? you're only going to run into this problem on another device. Stop using proprietary formats and protections altogether then you won't run into this problem.

Barry is spot on, you need to get your movies in a format without such restrictions. I get all my stuff in mkv format from usenet, then convert with mkv2vob for use on ps3.
