Great news. First came the Geohot exploit, now the latest debug firmware 3.10. The PS3 scene is truly heating up. Hopefully this will help the devs better understand how debug firmware differs from retail and possibly use in conjunction with Geohot's exploit to make progress on finding software exploit for retail units.

    Arrow

If you install Debug Firmware on a Debug console then you can run them yes, but not on a Retail console. If you haven't checked it out already, here is an F.A.Q. that may be of help as well.

Sorry again, i've made some confusion about Debug, test and retail. Debug = Test, Retail = crap. Sorry again and thank Boss for the answer.

Can it be used on retail consoles? With the swap trick? It runs on japanese consoles?

PS3 Firmware isn't region-restricted, however, installing it on Retail consoles with the swap trick will only end up giving you the Debug menus with no functionality, so it really is a waste of time.

I downloaded the new firmware for my test unit, everything works peachy.

Only problem is when mw2 prompts me to update the patch to version 1.08, it downloads then gives me a dns error after downloading. Anyone have this problem before? really want to play online, but alas.
