So, Kotaku sent the cex2dex information to Sony. I hope someone decides to make this process super easy, but it looks like this will be our next "cfw" thing...

You'll never be able to umount a device when you're using it - so it's safe to type in following command:

[Register or Login to view code]

"cd" without any parameters (normally) will set your working-directory to the users home-directory.

using the "mount"-command you should be able to find the device mounted to some directory. So simply type:

[Register or Login to view code]

and search the output for the device.

if the device is mounted - simply umount it now ... it should work.

if it's not mounted - check "sudo dmesg" (hope this command is available on RedRibbon Linux). there should be some notifications for the USB-device-plugins (incl. the device-name sda1 or such).

    Debug Agent Version 4.20... O.o

I wonder what the firmware is on DECR units? If they have the update or not.

It can be done on simple Linux script.

Just like when you run an app in PS3, a linux will launch and will do its task automate, with some confirmation and checks to ensure that the process is done flawlessly.

But the conversion of CEX into DEX dumps is not yet possible in linux, but it can be done, just no one takes action onto it.

I'm having trouble dumping the NAND (FAT 256 NAND) via preloader advance 3.1 in the description it says "Using Preloader Advance 3.1 (JFW is NOT required) I put my PS3 into service mode, put Lv2diag.self and the advance.cfg on a memory stick and put it into USB000 (far right slot). Powered the PS3 on and let it do its work."

and i did exactly that but when it finished i didn't have any new files on my usb what am i doing wrong?? (rebug 3.55.2)

So seeing how it a pain to type your dir into CMD and etc... I came up with a simple batch for using the compiler.

Within that file is the batch and the pkg compiler (Property of d0zs)

Just place the batch and compiler into BLES/BLUS/NPIA folder and presto

(attached the wrong file the first time )

i get serious problem converting my cex 3.55 to 3.55 dex

first, i dumped my flash to get the key for the metldrpwn exploit
second, i get the 48 bytes key for cex2dex with metldrpwn
third, i used cex2dex. got no problem

    i got a new flash.bin
i've flashed this flash.bin with dd (in petitboot)
after, i rebooted (and wanted to install a 3.55 dex in recovery)

the problem is that the ps3 don't want to format the hard drive : always throwing error 8002f271. i've tried to reformat in my computer in fat32 and replugged it but the problem was not fixed

so, i put the ps3 in service mode (with my atmel chips) and the software psgrade flashed on the chip. i used the lv2diag.self used with psgrade and ps3updat.pup from 3.55 dex but without success. in UPDATER_LOG.TXT i get

[Register or Login to view code]

so, could someone help me with that?

    dex 4.1 working perfectly now

To get make, insmod etc. working - i installed red ribbon rc5 to hdd then you need kernel sources and recompiling the kernel did the trick:

on linux (booted from your hdd not iso!) do this minus the quotes:

[Register or Login to view code]

    choose new root password

[Register or Login to view code]

    login as root.

[Register or Login to view code]

    add this line

[Register or Login to view code]

[Register or Login to view code]

go to /boot/ and rename vmlinux-2.6.39 to vmlinux

restart ps3 into petitboot and boot test=/boot/vmlinux root=/dev/ps3dd1

now proceed with the methldrpwn script like in the other tutorials etc.

    edit: you can skip:

[Register or Login to view code]
