Nice to see more progress happening!...

so what exactly are the three files inside BD1.zip?
08-03-2010 #5urbanracer34 Guest
A 594KB file about CDS file system areas
A 4KB PARAM.SFO
and A 4KB PS3_DISC.SFB
We've seen the last 2 before, but not the first one. I don't have a good hex editor, but I did import it into a text editor and it appears to be a lot of metadata.

I hope this time JaicraB & HadesTeam will crack this beast once for all or at least make it loads backups.

Do you think they'll release a TuT on how to connect the drive to the pc? Because if they did, that would be pretty sweet! So i'm guessing they connect the power of the blu ray drive to the ps3 and solder some wires to the blu-ray's board and solder the other side of the wires to a sata cable which goes to the PC right? Just guessing...
PS3 <---Blu Ray DRIVE (power)
Blu Ray DRIVE (board) <---(wires)--->sata end---> PC

Until I opened up my PS3 I foolishly assumed the BD reader was just plain SATA or IDE, how silly of me. If it was a standard connection type then all this progress would have happened a long time ago.
That and all those dead PS3s would have some value. It can't burn but I'd would mind buying a dead PS3 cheap then putting its reader into my PC.

So according to you (CJPC) it's a PS3 Blu-Ray Reader that is somehow IDE?
WoW Sony, PS3 is full of surprises..
