Today Spox_2 (via thenat1) detailed a PlayStation 4 reballing APU (CXD90026G) in PS4 with details below and some pictures available HERE.

Scope of activities:
1. We buy the PS4 console on the European release (date 29.11.2013r. in Poland)
2. Removing the APU system based on IPC (CPU & GPU - AMD system Jaguar) from the motherboard
3. Reballing the APU on a new solder alloy Sn63/Pb37 (unfortunately does not have at the moment, sit under a BGA. We made all the marbles own - it took 3 hours but worth it!)
4. Installation of the APU system based on IPC
5. Mounting motherboard PS4 console
6. The test result of the device ended POSITIVE!

This is nice, but I'm not sure getting this done would be worth the money (and shipping) that any company would be willing to charge for it.
You should wait the standard 1 year warranty out first (or extended warranty if you buy that), because if it fails in that time something was seriously wrong with it, and Sony will have to replace it.
If we look at the PS3, it was the original units that were hotter and even then most people didn't get the YLoD until 5+ years later. It was also the fact that the original units had more features which is why people wanted to fix them rather than buy a new console.
So if we take a look at the PS4, it's already running cooler than the PS3 and it is very unlikely that a new PS4 model will see a reduction in features. It's selling incredibly well, it's already cheaper than the competition, and it doesn't have any backwards compatibility this time so you won't lose anything functionality wise from a new model (I think years later they will drop the capacitive power buttons and probably add a manual flip open BluRay drive to make it even more cheaper, but that's about it).
Judging by this information, I'd say a thermal paste upgrade (along with a thorough inside dust cleaning) after your warranty plan expires should be enough to get you through the generation.
But all things said and done, the reduced power consumption and heat of the PS4 compared to the PS3 means overheating shouldn't be as bad a problem, or at least as widespread as it was with the original PS3 units.

PS4 Macronix MX25L25635FMI-10G & MX25L1006E NOR Flash Dumped
Following up on the recent PlayStation 4 Reballing developments, today Italian PlayStation 4 developer -Criscros- (aka criscros1989) reports he has dumped the Macronix MX25L25635FMI-10G and Macronix MX25L1006E PS4 NOR flash memory ICs (OFW 1.05) using SPIway and a Teensy++ with a ZIF socket.
HERE are some pictures, and to quote, roughly translated: I can communicate with much happiness that I have just dump the NOR flash memory MX25L25635FMI-10G Macronix, Macronix MX25L1006E and the new home console Sony PS4.
Everything was done by unsoldering the 2 memories and read with SPIway the Teensy++ via ZIF for power that I used the Teensy++ using the same controller without problems.

Definitely dumping MX SPI flash could be done easier and cheaper! lmao
Personally I think Sony have done this on purpose... SPI flash are pretty common in most devices. Dumping the console FW isn't the challenge, decrypting/extracting it is a different story.
We'll see what's in store. I would imagine the same could be possible in the future - rewriting the coreOS section of flash to unbrick/restore the system.
Still waiting to get my hands on a PS4, there's none left here in the UK
Just looked at those screenshots, the second flash can be ignored - USB-SATA controller FW (also present on the PS3 slim JTP-001 & JSD-001 boards)
