Today scooby609 reports that he nearly doubled the charge life of his DualShock 4 (DS4) PS4 controller simply by replacing the battery pack with an aftermarket DualShock 3 (DS3) battery pack.
Below are the details, to quote: The battery in the DS4 is a 3.65V 1000mAh battery.
The aftermarket DS3 batteries fit perfectly in the DS4 with no modding required!
One I got is a 3.7v 1800mAh battery (the mAh rating is the charge life rating) it cost me under $9 shipped!
I have gone from around 8hrs per charge to nearly 14hrs per charge with the new battery!
Finally, below is a DS4 Accumulator Mod / DualShock 4 Accumulator Mod Tutorial from Reidenschi as follows:
Today I want to tell how to make 2400 mAh accumulator for your DS4.
We need two mobile phone accumulators "BL-4J" 1200 mAh 3.7v each, one accumulator connector ( I get one from old videocard cooler) and tools for disassembling DS4 and soldering accumulators together.
In first you need to take off accumulator, accumulator holder and reset button.
Then solder accumulators in parallel.
Obtained accumulator fits good in DS4.
It remains only to assemble gamepad back. I get a little gap. I do not think that this is a big problem.
Don't forget take original parts in safe place.
I charge DS4 from 2A 5V adapter and have no problem. Charge lasts for 17-18 hours of active play. Checked in Final Fantasy 13.
