[IMGW]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3253005[/IMGW]We'll forgive Valve for not making their ambitious fall release date for the ridiculous combo package that is Half-Life: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal (plus the original Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 for the console kids on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), but we're getting a little anxious know, so it's good to hear they have a new date in mind: September.

Speaking to IGN about Team Fortress 2, the company indicated things are starting to wind down on the development end, though they aren't committing to September. If things change, they'll move the date back, and they aren't necessarily promising all versions of the package will ship at the same time. The PC version could be the only one that arrives in September -- or it may be all three.
Doug Lombardi [Valve marketing director]: We're looking at the back-to-school timeframe. We don't have a solid date yet.

Robin Walker [Valve engineer]: September is entirely self-adopted. If it finally came to September and we thought the game sucked we wouldn't ship it. We've held it long enough. [laughter]

Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed.
