November 16, 2006 - While we still don't have any word on online play, Sega has cleared up one area of concern for Virtua Tennis 3. Japan's IT Media reveals today that the arcade port will make full use of the Sixaxis controller for tilt controls.
To move your character, you tilt the controller forward, back, left and right. You also perform shots with controller movements. To perform a top spin, you slide the controller horizontally left to right or right to left. Sliding the controller down results in a slice, with lob achieved by sliding the controller up.
We're going to have to try out this new control system before we can judge it. In the event that it doesn't work all that well, though, Virtua Tennis fans will be able to select from a set of standard button-based controls.
