With Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Namco has one of the most in-demand PS3 downloadable games on the way. A big part of why is that the game wasn't released on PS2, so the only chance players have had to play it at home previously has been on PSP. Another part of that is that -- thanks to the PS3's power -- the game runs in 1080p on high definition TVs.
And then there's the third part of that equation: Jinpachi Mishima. Also known as "the boss" in the arcade version of Dark Resurrection, Mishima is playable for the first time on PS3 (at least, the first time without a GameShark). So to present more information on this new fighter, we tracked down his official back story, which we now present to you here -- cheesy Tekken themes and all:
"Once renowned as the strongest martial artist in the world, 50 years ago he was defeated by his son Heichachi Mishima, and ousted from the Mishima Zaibatsu.
"With control of the zaibatsu fortune in his hands, Heihachi soon diverted all expenditures towards military expansion and research. Jinpachi was not to be cast aside so easily though, and from the shadows secretly planed a coup d'etat to overthrow Heihachi and put and end to his evil plans. However, Jinpachi was arrested and imprisoned in a subterranean cell before his plan could be put into action.
"Year after year Jinpachi endured his capture waiting for a time when he would be free. Then without warning a violent tremor shook the ground. Sensing the seal on the cell had weakened with an almost inhuman roar, Jinpachi released a surge of energy ripping himself free of his chains.
"Surrounded in an evil aura, and eyes glowing blood red a fiendish grin ran across his face. Jinpachi was reborn."
