Sony to Reissue PS3 Firmware 3.56 to Remedy HDD Upgrades?
Update: Sony has now done as expected and reissued the PS3 Firmware 3.56 update. More details to come as they are available (PUP SHA1/MD5 hash comparison HERE) on whether it remedies the PlayStation 3 HDD upgrade issues or not.

Some may recall Sony quietly reissued PS3 Firmware 3.41 to rectify issues for PlayStation 3 HDD upgraders, and today Examiner.com (linked above) reports the same remedy may be necessary in the recently released PS3 Firmware 3.56.
To quote: "According to users on NeoGAF and HighDef Forum, the 3.56 firmware prevents the newer PlayStation 3 models (with 16 MB flash) from being upgradeable to a new hard disk drive. The following models have been affected:

Apparently this was an old bug that has appeared before in a previous firmware update that was eventually fixed. Hopefully, Sony can fix it again in a timely matter."

So what happens then when my legit 40Gb fat PS3 HDD goes tits up? I have to pay Sony STUPENDOUS amounts to have my console repaired becuase I can't use any 2.5" sata hdd?
3.56 will get hacked to bits. Then we can start on 3.57 or even 3.58.
Bring it Sony... you caused ALL of this by removing OtherOS - Just remember that! I'm sure 1000's of honest customers will...
well. here is the reason why we will get 3.57 on the same day when 3.56 CFW will come out. "Sony announced the new 3.57 patch for PS3 systems which solves the HDD change issue."
until then they want to figure out what they can disable in PS3. i don't give a crap about PSN. i'll stay on 3.55.

That would be a smart fix on sony's part if you think about it. They could just check the size of the storage medium the game is running on.
If disk > bluray disk then fail.
