Sony confirms new PlayStation Store won't be region locked
SCEA has confirmed that there will be no changes to the PlayStation Store as part of its revamp in relation to region locking.
So just like before, users with a number of accounts relating to different regions will not be locked out of those PlayStation stores.
To quote: With the new PlayStation Store moving to a native XMB application and away from a web-based system, many have questioned if Sony would take the opportunity to region lock the store. So we passed along the question.
The Official answer, thankfully, is no. Our friendly SCEA rep "confirmed that no changes to the store will be made as part of this revamp relating to region locking".
So like before, those users with multiple master accounts corresponding to different regions will indeed not be locked out of those PlayStation Stores.

Was it ever region locked? Ive downloaded stuff from my jap account and played it on my American account with no problem.
I think this was said for relief purposes as people like myself have imported consoles and use our regional PSN usernames to access the PS Store or have more worldwide usernames and because it was brought up that the PS Store will be OS Based, it has led to speculation that it would lock to your console's regional store.
But a huge sigh of relief!
Indeed I think you are right. It would be impractical on Sony's part to make it a single united store when there are multiple languages and classification issues.
All that this means is that there will not be a block on foreign IP's on each regions store. So, by making a Japanese account for example you will be able to get onto their store without hassle.
Well if you did have a single universal store for all PS3 users then languague wouldn't be a problem because you could just change a leanguage setting to what ever you neeed, like the InfoBoard.
thank the heavens! i sadly have a Japanese PS3 and therefore if they did region-lock the PSN store then ill be screwed
