Sony Announces PSN Maintenance is Planned for August 30, 2010

SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has announced today that PSN will be down for planned PlayStation Network maintenance this Monday- August 30, 2010.

To quote: PlayStation Network will undergo routine maintenance on Monday 30 August between the hours of 08:00 and 21:00 BST.

During this time you will not be able to access PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home or any part of Account Management, such as your Download List.

However, you should be able to play games online and sign-in here on the PlayStation Blog, at eu.playstation.com and on the official PlayStation forums.

If you have any questions or experience any problems, please head to the official PlayStation forums.

I wonder if PSN+ users can't access their downloads then ?? Because they cannot connect so the system can't see if your still subscribing or not

    Exclamation

I wonder if this has anything to do with Sony's efforts to hobble the psjailbreak?

The shit will hit the fan when people get banned for no reason (no jb or anything used).

Frankly, anyone seriously thinking about using the jailbraik on PS3 should get one extra PS3 and keep it simply offline. Considering the cost of device + additional PS3 it will "pay back" after let's say 10 - 15 games. Cold be used also as PS3 for kids - no need of online + protecting expensive games so kids will not damage them. Or as and addtional PS3 hor household so there will be no battles over specific games if you have multiply PS3s and so on. Definitelly NOT wise to use it online with your (main) PSN id at all

HMMMM this round of maintenance could be anything though... like maybe they will finaly take away the game-sharing ability witch makes it easy for friends to share games... but probably related to the PSJB...

Good point GrandpaHomer but i would add try to find an older phat model ps3 for your offline one so that you can upgrade the HDD to a 640GB and have enough room to back up more than just a few of your discs on it+ all of the homebrew application that i know will come more often when these "JIG's" are more available, remember external usb drives still have a 4gb file size limit and there have been reports of people not being able to rip or play some games off of externals...

Unless I've missed something - is there a limit on Slim PS3 regards the hard drive size? And - for those who will find even 640 GB small - nothing easier than having 2 (or even 4) TB via adapter to 3.5" external SATA disk

yes but the old fat models are much easier to switch out the hard drives. 640 was just an example size one the HDD as thats what i currently have in my 60GB phat in theory yes you could always go bigger i didnt limit my post was just pointing out that it is much easier to swap out the internal drive in a phat than a slim...
