Rumor: SCE to Confirm PS3 Price Drop, PS3 Slim Caught on Film?

A few rumors to kick off the new week... Portuguese site GamersTek.com (linked above) is reporting that SCE is allegedly going to confirm a PS3 price drop to €299.00 today, noting that Spanish retailers including Alternate.es and Pixmania.com are already listing PlayStation 3 80GB + LittleBigPlanet bundles at a 25% drop.

Additionally, NeoGAF is speculating on whether a recently uncovered YouTube 'Making of Batman' clip from the Rocksteady team contains a PS3 Slim at the 1:35 minute mark that was edited out.

A picture of it as well as the video are below, and to quote- roughly translated:

It was a worthy post in the forum NeoGAF and known who started the latest rumors about the declining price of the PlayStation 3.

According to the same, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will confirm today, Monday 10th of August, that the console will actually fall in price to € 299.00.

To give force to speculation, the chain of Spanish stores Alternate already put the PS3 on sale at that price. In turn, the British site TheSixthAxis contacted SCEE, which responded with the usual 'no comment rumors or speculation'.

hmmm i dunno.. those blurred out pics seem to be quite big to be the "slim" version.. maybe it was a Microsoft thing, making sure that the making video didn't just feature PS3s in the office, since the company made this game for both consoles (PS3 and XBox 360). Hmmm. i really doubt the PS3 Slim is in the video.

I was thinking a Dev unit myself, but then why would they bother censoring that when pics of them are all over the net

Another thing I read was it could have been a black XBox 360 but even that I'm sure I've seen many times before so I don't see what the "big deal" would be on it either.

It would be interesting if someone posts the pic uncensored though, just to see what it is hehe

    First thing

First thing that came to my mind: Dev stations!

And that's it I guess - nothing else.
They just don't want that anyone gets the serial number on the back or something.

You'd have to ask the folks at NeoGAF that... as that is where the rumor came from. I can only assume they are speculating it's a PS3 slim because of the censoring in the video though.

If you ask me these are the XDK's. The new one, at the time this movie was made there didn't introduced yet. I don't think it's a PS3 Slim.

Oh wow there's a blurred out 360 there too. Obviously that means there's going to be a 360-slim announced soon!

I think when you watch the video pass by the system it's obvious that it isn't "slim" in any way.

SLIM??? Unless your comparing the current Kirstie Alley version of it! hahahah seriously, that thing looked bigger than my full tower. In all reality Slim or no slim, I would be looking to drop another 400 bucks on a console that is going to be reduced to specs that will almost equal a PS2. (ex. 2 usb ports, no wifi, no bla bla bla)

What Sony really needs to do is get its head out of its butt, and realize that the PS2 is dead now, and they can go on to drop the price of the ps3 to around 200 bucks, which in my book is still expensive, especially now with this economy, people would buy a lot more systems and games.

This is coming from the 'average' household with a medium income. Not from the 'average' who is not affected by the economy.
