Thread: A quick HDD question
A quick HDD question
First of all id like to say sorry if ive been lazy or missed something...
But i have a quick question about replacing my ps3 HDD.
i understand that for replacing the internal HDD i need a 2.5inch SATA hdd.
But what i need to know is what specs it HAS to be, and is it as straight forward as replacing. Or does anything need to be done to the new drive before its replaced.
Any help will be great! Thanks.
I don't think anything special needs to be done. It just has to be a laptop hard drive, essentially, with SATA connection.
If you need visual help in doing this, check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B1mQ21XXLE
It looks to be as simple as unscrewing the old PS3 hard drive, taking it out of the slot, and putting the new one in. Easy as replacing a laptop hard drive.
Great howto. Is there any recommended hdd for ps3?
Seagates are good reliable hdds.
u don't have to use laptop 2.5 hdd, you can use desktop 3.5 hdd (cheaper & more storage) with an enclosure and set it right beside the ps3.
Pretty much any external will work. I even used my 30GB iPod.
Does anybody make 2.5" HDD's under 40GB?
check on pricewatch.com
Does anybody know what is max hard disk size what are supported for PS3?
There is no limit on the ps3 i think...If there is one you can not go higher than a couple of terabyte from what i've heard
