PowerMad Review of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for PS3
This is Uncharted Drake's fortune for the PlayStation 3 gaming console. I just want to tell you in advance, that no matter what anyone says, if you are in the recommendations below BUY, THIS, GAME!
Uncharted is one of the best games you can get the PlayStation 3, it reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 4, Tomb Raider, and Jak & Daxter. So as you can see if you had to pick a from a combination of awesomeness, chances are you would end up with Uncharted.
But Uncharted is much more then just a cheesy knock off of those 3 games. The storyline (although reminds me of Jak & Daxter) is one of the best on the current generation of consoles.
You follow 2 main characters (Nathan Drake & Elena fisher) as they search for a 500 year old treasure Nathans ancestor left behind and their only clue is a old treasure map they found in his grave.
Once you get 3 hours into the game a large amount of the plot unfolds but trust me, what I leave out due to spoiling is great. In fact if you liked the Jak & Daxter storyline and game play, I can almost reassure you that you will like this game.
The game play is what it took from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Tomb Raider. Not a plain copy I still believe that Metal Gear Solid 4 had slightly better combat even though it was more flawed. But this game aces tomb raider in platforming, the reason I say that is because it doesn't have a horrible camera that makes you want to throw it in the toilet and take dump on it.
So it is very good in terms of platforming, the 1 problem I did have with it though was the puzzle solving. It's a simple reason I hated the puzzles, there we're none/too easy. In fact I can't remember I single time I had to really think hard in this game, all the information on how to do stuff was pretty much given to you.
You also have a hint system but it doesn't always work, and some times they won't let you use it.
Another flaw although very small, is weapon related. It isn't very important unless you notice small things, but the weapons seem to be a bit off. What I am saying is for example, The M4 in this game is more powerful then the AK-47. but the Ak-47 is more accurate then the Ak-47. This is in complete reverse in real life, and I think they could of hired a weapon specialist to explain the strengths and weaknesses of the weapons in game.
The last and probably the most important thing is the AI. I have played Resistance 1&2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and half life 2. But I think this beats all of them besides Resistance 2.
All in all I think this game is amazing and is one of the reasons to buy a PS3. But if your are not sure if you will like it or not, check my recommendations below. Thanks for reading!
