Featured New Releases:

Van Halen - A Different Kind of Truth

In the annals of rock history, there are few names that carry as much weight as Van Halen. Marred by lineup changes, infighting, addiction and long period of inactivity, a new generation of guitar heroes may not appreciate that Van Halen was once the biggest hard rock band in the world.

The band was the bridge between Led Zeppelin and Guns N Roses. Eddie Van Halen's self-taught virtuosity literally redefined the guitar and launched a million imitators. Diamond David Lee Roth with his martial arts theatrics was the best front man of a generation.

A Different Kind of Truth is the first album from the band in 14 years and the first with Roth at the helm in 28 years. That it took place at all is a minor miracle. That it is so GOOD, is just plain shocking.

The first single, "Tattoo," is a slight misstep, but there aren't many others in this hard and fast record that echoes the earliest Van Halen records. It comes as no surprise to learn that many of these songs are revivals of unused demos from the late 1970's.

A Different Kind of Truth isn't lightning in a bottle, but sparks are still flying.
If You Like: Aerosmith, AC/DC, Motley Crue
Recommended Track: "She's the Woman," "As Is."

The Fray - Scars & Stories

Now past their debut and jumping over the sophomore slump with their smash hit 2009 self-titled album, The Fray have been able to choose their own direction outside expectations on their third effort.

Scars & Stories is a far more guitar-heavy, kicking off with the explosive, "Heartbeat,"; a far cry from the somber piano ballads that propelled them into the spotlight. The keys still take the forefront on songs like the album closer, "Be Still," but the evolution is palpable. Highly textured and highly electric - this group is full speed ahead alongside their signature pop sensibilities.
If You Like: Snow Patrol, Coldplay, OneRepublic
Recommended Track: "Heartbeat"

Dierks Bentley - Home

Seven may be the only lucky number for some people, but for Dierks Bentley, he's had luck with the last six albums he's put out since 2000, and stands to continue his streak with his latest, Home.

With platinum albums under his belt, it's no surprise that the first single, "Am I the Only One" jumped to #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart last year, positioning him for a big splash on this new record. Bentley kicks of several sets of dates tomorrow in New York City and carries on through the spring in the states, Canada and Australia alongside festivals and state fairs.

He even has a performance at the 100th birthday celebration of his home state, Arizona, this weekend.
