Featured New Releases

John Mayer - Born & Raised

Perma-celebrity John Mayer has always made headlines for his vocal personality and romantic run-ins with some high profile ladies.

Mayer has long fought to keep the focus on his music and fortunately and unfortunately, with Born & Raised, it may be forced to.

Alongside a few public controversies, Mayer has also been struggling with vocal problems similar to Adele's, which require sometimes months of vocal rest and countless doctor's visits.

For that reason, Mayer is "quietly," releasing this album, with no plans for touring and limited public appearances. The story is in the music this time and it speaks in a lovely and concentrated effort without the usual chaos.

Slash - Apocalyptic Love

It's strange to refer to Apocalyptic Love as Slash's, "sophomore effort." The iconic and prolific Guns-N-Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist has only released one solo album in 2010, which featured a bevy of guest vocalists, from Ozzy to Fergie to Kid Rock. Slash mixes it up for the second album, bringing Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy on as sole singer and musical collaborator.

While the idea was tossed around for this to be it's own project, the Slash legacy carries significant weight, and his guitar work are what truly shape the album. No word on if this specific alliance will extend to future albums, but it's almost certain that Slash will be dipping his toes in other projects down the line.

Kimbra - Vows

By now you've seen or heard Kimbra's name at least a few times, if not a few dozen, as part of the epidemically massive alternative dark horse, "Someone That I Used to Know," by Gotye. Striking while the iron is hot, Kimbra is determined to extend her approx. :34 seconds of fame to make a name in her own right.

Coming out of the gate strong, her vocal abilities truly carry this effort, focusing some experimental musical choices back to center. This is truly just the beginning for Kimbra who, at just 22, very clearly has much more up her sleeve.
